It's a shame Marvel Studios don't have the rights to Spiderman, that would be excellent. Problem is then, the person to sub out would be Captain America and that's never going to happen.

Did Marvel sell the film rights to Spiderman?

Yeh Sony still have them from when Tobey Maguire was in the suit. I think their rights were to about expire, actually, which is why they rebooted.

I'm half an hour in and I might as well look up the ending because I'm fairly certain I know what all the major plot points will be. It's a 2 hour long film, FFS, have at least a little mystery.

I'm ho hum about the Spiderman reboot. They're ok, but I quite liked the Tobey Maguire movies. The 3rd could have been better, but it wasn't terrible. I'm not sure Spiderman would really fit in as an Avenger. He seems like a rogue. DC Comics are going to try and do what Marvel has done and create a single movie universe. I think it paves the way for a new type of approach to movie making.
