Apparently this is fairly common in Europe. Or maybe people just like saying "I'm an atheist for tax purposes" too get rid of it.

Apparently, being Dutch is suffering. Pity the upped the number of teams to 24, lest the Dutch would be as good as out.

Nope. The Churches have membership fees, and a standing agreement with the state to collect them for the Churches. The state is basically serving as a contractor.

Yeah, we're trying really hard not to qualify.

Oh well, we're at least still unbeaten at home in an EC qualification match since 1963.

Looking at the stats in that game, I'm amazed that the Netherlands managed to conspire to score just the one. Maybe that's more understandable when you see the game itself (because, hey, how many times has a team one with fewer shots, less possession and very few corners).

Balotelli scores from 25 yards and beats John Terry to set Didier Drogba up for a goal. Where's this Balotelli been all season?

Also, phowar, Thierry Henry.

Steven Fletcher – last international goal 2009 – scores a hat-trick (Scotland's first since 1969!) as Sotland beat Gibraltar 6–1. Gibraltar got their first competitive goal.

Do you think you can beat Portugal and Denmark to a auto spot or through the qualifiers?

We beated Portugal in their home, and we are capable to beat Deanmark, since the draw at the first match came from a last minute goal of Deanmark. Do you even football bro?

I barely follow the qualifiers until the last few games.

I take that as a yes, then. What was the score in the Serbia match before it was abandoned?

So if that had stood you were second. Fair enough.

I'm not a big fan of anything Platini does but at least this widening of the number of teams that can qualify will allow a more interesting line up to come through. Might even get Wales and Norn Iron at a tournament for once...Iceland, Slovakia, Albania, Austria, Hungary all teams that are well set to at least get a good run at the playoffs and would be interesting to have at a tournament.

Well Wembley has a lot more things to do now that the shopping centre and food outlet has been complete. A lot more to do than stand in front of a burger van for 2 hours, unlike the previous two visits. Less said about the rest of the day the better.

Completely. I could go on for a few hours about the list of things he's done wrong or gotten wrong. Brilliant recruiter, tactically inept. Poor style of play, hugely defensive, happy to take a draw. When half the teams you play are part time you really should not be losing regularly to them. His record in the cups is a lot better this season where he has let loose and played attractive attacking football then resorted to aiming for a 0-0 draw at home and away (invariably losing). The sackings been on the cards for a while but in fairness to our board they gave him the chance to turn it around and particularly manage a team at Wembley, but the manner of defeat, 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go and the rest of the team saying the substitute choices cost us the game.... http://leaderlive.co.uk/news/146034/jen ... tions.aspx you really have to question his ability.

I believe he'd won one single league game throughout October to January and we were about one win in 17. Admittedly we'd not lost a lot either but it was boring to watch and crowds were at a record low. Lucky to have lasted as long as he has.

Getting ready for our trip to Wembley tomorrow to take on the great North Ferriby United (like seriously who has heard of them before?) in the FA Trophy final.

As it's non league weekend everyone should try and get out to a game to support their local club, if you live in the UK. Who is going where?

The train line between Hull and York passes quite close to their stadium, a few minutes from Hull city centre.

Wales will be pretty pleased with Belgium's 1–0 win in Israel tonight. Keeps Israel behind plus Kompany was sent off by Mark Clatternburg and will miss the contest in Cardiff.
