Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. Does that mean Darrell Bevell gets to get up and have a second chance at making the right play call?

2nd down, defense is expecting run, so you run play action and put the ball up in the air behind the crashing defense. If you run on 2nd down and the defense stuffs you, they know you're going in the air on 3rd down since you just used your last time out.

They didn't play each other this season. Unless you're referring to the preseason, but that doesn't really count.

As a Redskins fan I take what I can get. :lol2:

Are you kidding? It was the worst call. Going for a field goal would have been a better call.

Sadly, no. If today were Groundhog Day, then yes.

You know, I think this stupid end which should never have happened has taken our minds of the real Superbowl catastrophe: the halftime show.

With a four point deficit? Silly call but lets not lose rational thought here.

Alright maybe that's an exaggeration but they're damn close to the same level of idiocy.

Yeah. Passing it was by far the most idiotic thing you could do. That close, you should have ran it.

Honestly, as a Packers fan I just wanted the Patriots to lose. Ii didn't want the Hawks to win, but I wanted the Patriots to lose. Team with a rightfully earned poor reputation.

Bevell is going to have a lot of hate directed at him for the next couple weeks. One of the dumbest plays in superbowl history.

Except that essentially forces the next two plays to be passes, which is what the Pats obviously want. That's why you have to run first.

Except for the fact that Wilson threw like three interceptions. The Giants' coverage team was on point that day.

Thorn is amazing. I do not have it. But I have Plan C

Of course, if Butler had been a single step further over or had stumbled slightly in his change of direction, it would be one of the best and bravest plays in Superbowl history...

I know hindsight is 20/20, and that if Wilson had connected with his receiver we wouldn't be complaining about this, BUT HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT GET THE BALL BACK TO LYNCH IN THAT SITUATION???

Would it really have? Even if it was pulled off it would have been innovative maybe, but I don't see it as that groundbreaking.

Assuming the pass goes incomplete and you don't do something tragically stupid like throw into the crashing defense, then on 3rd down you still have that timeout in your pocket to elect to go run.

To call a pass into the centre of a defence packed to try and contain Lynch and expecting either a running play from him or a pass to a wide receiver? It might not be considered ground breaking, but brave and brilliant? Yes, it would have been.
