Minor edit.

Republicans idea of negotiating is the Democrats supporting their agenda.

No, that's their definition of bipartisanship. Their idea of negotiating is John Boehner, with the Tea Party caucus looking over his shoulder, telling the Democrats what their opinion is.

People often seem to miss one important consequence of living in a democracy. The government reflects the will of the people.

If people are apathetic about intrusions on privacy, the government will intrude on privacy.

If people are extreme and unwilling to see other's views, the government will refuse to work with itself.

If people are lazy enough to believe whatever their echo chamber tells them, than government will reflect those views and run around in circles.

The annual Milliman Medical Index (MMI) measures the total cost of healthcare for a typical family of four covered by a preferred provider organization (PPO) plan. The 2012 MMI cost is $20,728, an increase of $1,335, or 6.9% over 2011. The rate of increase is not as high as in the past, but the total dollar increase was still a record. This is the first year the average cost of healthcare for the typical American family of four has surpassed $20,000.

Health care costs have been rising faster than the rate of inflation for decades. The entire reason behind the ACA is to try and find a way to slow the rate of increase.
