Translations of the Quran, anyone? What do you use?

I own a Pickthall translation; which I quite like.

Maulana Muhammad Ali (Yes, like the Boxer) is by far my favorite.

He's an Ahmadi. Which I am not. But he leaves his sect's dogma completely out of it.

Which is nice because it makes it useful to all Muslims

Do sect's normally influence translations?

Also, I have no Idea what to say about Lot. I know that homosexuality is in no way harmful to anyone if between consenting adults.

But there's almost no way around that verse. I've heard that it speaks out against homosexual lust as just as bad as normal lust but says nothing of love between two men/women. I've also heard its explicitly condemning the rape aspects.

Both are a stretch, but I appreciate the effort by the Muslims who believe that.

Besides, homoeroticism has been shown to have been a major thing in medieval Islamic Art, poetry, and maybe even accepted in some of the cultures.

I am inclined to believe that back then, in the middle east, homosexuality was seen as a promiscuous, pedastric and ritualistic thing to do. Lot was speaking against that. Now, actual love has become more prevalent in the LGBT community. It's no longer ritualistic.

That I admit is a stretch as well. And Patistan should be here any minute now.

For the first thing though my only opinion is that Man and a Women should not have "lustily" acts to each other unless they are married. I have though changed my opinion in the past weeks and have accepted that the quote speaks out against Homosexual lust but still do believe that it is haram and if anybody does have the urges then they should resist.
