During the recession and recovery the upper class managed to get even wealthier here in the states. Read here http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/art ... g-recovery

I know this is old news, even though its a new article. But it makes you think about how bad wealth gaps are in America, and what we need to do to overcome them.

What do you think of the article, and the rising inequality in the U.S?

I'd put this on the ridiculous notion of trickle down economics.

Obviously They have been working harder than the poor I mean that's what capitalism does isn't it? It rewards Hard work with money the harder some one works the more money they get.... right?

I don't have a problem with the rich getting wealthier. I have a problem with them getting wealthier and then doing everything they can to fight paying their taxes.

Hell, get as wealthy as you want, but our government needs to make sure that they're giving back to society in return.

I also wouldn't mind if everyone else got wealthier in the process and that the gaps weren't so freaking large.

Wait, that's not supposed to happen! The rich shouldn't be profiting,I mean, it's not like they continue to do what ever made them very wealthy and powerful. Man, this whole economy thing is just a bad idea...

The U.S. populace isn't very fond of taxes, and the rich do "give back" in terms of paying taxes; Those who do pay taxes, anyway.

That'd be great, but capitalism exists.

As long as the rich are in a position to exploit the workers, they will always prosper in times when the poor, working people suffer. :)

I place it on American imperialism, which was designed to benefit the rich, to the detriment of the ordinary peoples.

Well I didn't say I was all that happy with the US populace either. Too often they're too ignorant to realize they're being gullible idiots.

Case in point, ask any believer in "Trickle-Down" economics who makes less than fifty grand a year.

Reminds me of my father in economics. Americans are single-issue voters usually. My father supports republicans only because they're against the GAWD DAYUM gayus, but is pro-union and pro-many other socialist ideas, ignorance is the leading cause of this. Which has left the far-right AKA the rich (this includes democrats) to make their own policies regarding taxation against themselves.

Which is pretty much the most condescending argument I hear out of Republicans.

"You've got a Refrigerator, you're not poor!" - Newt Gingrich while he's on his Yacht counting money.

The education system ought to be improved. If everybody has the opportunity to climb the social ladder by means of education, then there is no reason to lament economic inequality, provided that the needs of all are met to a reasonable degree. Inequality, in itself, is not unjust.

It's true, I know people who support a free market, but are liberal on every other issue, but they vote republican. I think Im the only third party voter in my state.

My dad's the same way. He'll basically give you an entire Socialist dissertation without actually using the word.

But because he hates the word "Socialist" and the Democrats nominated a Black Guy he wouldn't be caught dead voting for them.
