Sanga is awesome. Not awesome like the word is usually used, though, more in the dictionary definition sort of way.

Sam Robson has just registered a century on England Lions' first tour game (albeit it against a weak Gauteng Invitational XI), although I'd probably still play his partner Adam Lyth in the Test series against the Windies after the World Cup.

My team would be:

Cook
Lyth
Ballance
Bell
Root
Ali
Buttler
Broad
Woakes
Anderson
Finn/Tredwell*

*Depending on conditions.

It wouldn't really make sense for England to dump the incumbent opener on the back of a century. A lot will depend on how all three potentials (Robson, Lees, Lyth) do in the FC games to come.

Well yeah, but Robson had an extended run, which, apart from his century, did not produce much, so it would be fair to give Lyth (who has the county runs to back him up) a shot at the top of the order. Obviously if Robson scores lots of centuries and Lyth has a rubbish tour, then Robson will get back in, but I think Lyth holds the upper hand when it comes to potential selection.

Robson has 1x100 and 1x50 from his 7 Tests; and made 75 in his last first-class game last season. Plus Gus Fraser is a selector.

Scyld Berry explains perfectly why, imo, Lyth should not unseat Robson – just yet at least.

South Africa are destroying West Indies here. 312/1 after 42 overs, with a 247 opening stand and de Villiers hitting an ODI record fastest 50 off 16 balls.

de Villiers falls on 149 off just 44 balls. New record holder for fastest 50 and 100 (and would've easily beaten the 150 record of 99 balls). Also joint-most sixes in an innings (16).

You can't be serious? 149 off 44 balls? That's outrageous.

More than three runs off evry ball? That's crazy.

There's highlights floating around on YouTube. Definitely worth a watch, some of the shots he plays are just unbelievable.

England thrash India. In an ODI. With 135 balls to spare. Wow.

Good as they were, and they were bloody good, I'm not too excited just yet. Do the same to the Australians tonight though...

Derbyshire have announced the signing of New Zealand's opening batsman Martin Guptill for the start of next season (6 Championship games, 3 T20s).

On a grander level, Northamptonshire have confirmed the T20 Blast-only signing of Pakistan allrounder Shahid Afridi for six of their 14 games.

Great news.

Big signings = bigger crowds, that's a basic t20 fact.
