My mum's suggestion: send in the women's team.

Get in some South Africans to shore up the batting. We've got a spare one we don't need anymore, you can have him.

England have made one change to their 14-man squad for the last Test at the Oval, with James Anderson returning in place of Mark Footitt. Bit of a risk…

I'm curious to see how England will ever solve their top order problems. We seem to be 30/3 in pretty much every innings, and have tried at least 6 different openers since Strauss retired. I even see people suggesting that Moeen have a go at opening (usually the people who are desperate to get Rashid in the side).

I wonder if Ballance might be worth a go, actually. I don't think he's played there.

Worst LBW decision I've seen in a long, long time: https://youtu.be/ajpSfhJVghQ?t=3m55s

Doesn't even hit the batsman in front. Turns and clips the keeper's pads.

David Willey has smashed the fastest hundred in England this year, off 40 balls (dismissed off his 41st), as Northamptonshire beat Sussex by seven wickets in the T20 quarter-finals. He also took 34 off one Michael Yardy over: 6 4 6 6 6 6 – and took three wickets too.

Sri Lanka have just completed the mother of all Test comebacks against India, having been 192 behind after the first innings.

Was just going to post about that :P.

Here's an article about the match

Really surprised that Sri Lanka made a immediate comeback after the loss against Pakistan and that to against a strong Indian side.

I've considered England's bowling a bit mediocre for years, and I'm certainly not alone in that. Sometimes they just look completely toothless, and they frequently have trouble finishing off the tail. However, since they just bowled Australia out for 60, something occurred to me; in recent years, England have bowled other teams out for less than 100 way more often than anyone else. In fact, they've done it at least once per year since 2010:

2010: Pakistan (72, 74, 80), Australia (98)
2011: Sri Lanka (82)
2012: Pakistan (99)
2013: New Zealand (68)
2014: India (94)
2015: Australia (60)

In the same period, they've also given away more 50+ partnerships for the 10th wicket than anybody else, and the top two test scores by No. 11s. What's the reason for such inconsistency?

Be interesting to see where all these innings took place. England often have issues finding the right bowler(s) for the potential conditions.

Michael Clarke is expected to enforce the follow-on on England today for the first time in his career (captaincy career 0 follow-ons of 4 possible).

And everything is set up perfectly for Lyth to score his maiden quadruple century to save the game.

Very important innings from Alastair Cook today. England still 129 behind following on but rain forecast after lunch for the rest of the Test.

I'd be surprised if there isn't half an hour of play somewhere to finish this off.

Root is really carrying England's batting at the moment. I can't remember anything like it. Either he makes a score and England win, or he fails and England lose.

This is the first five-match Ashes series since 1936/37 to end in a 3-2 scoreline. Chris Rogers and Joe Root named men of the series.

Australia (leading 10-4 with two points left to play for) have regained the women's Ashes after beating England by 20 runs.

Yorkshire are 2015 county champions – but have lost their unbeaten streak (stretching back to April 2014) after losing by 246 runs at Lord's despite bowling Middlesex out for 106 in the first innings! (Middlesex made 573/8 dec in their second dig.)

11 hours and a double ton later, Alastair Cook has broken out the reverse sweep. What the Hell is going on here?

Did it work, or was itlike Mark Taylor's first and only attempt at a reverse sweep?

Bottom edged it into the ground, and it bounced away for a single. He tried it again a ball later, completely missed. That's the extent of Cook's reverse sweeping career, I think.
