To riff off of a poem by Constantine Cavafy;

Waiting for the Creationists wrote:
-What are we waiting for, assembled in the forum?

The creationists are due here today.

-Why isn't anything going on in the senate?
Why are the Senators and Postmasters-General sitting there without arguing?

Because the creationists are coming today.
What's the point of Senators arguing amongst themselves now?
Once the creationists are here, they'll do the arguing.

-Why did our atheists and science-wonks get up so early,
and why are they sitting enthroned at the forum's main gate,
in state, wearing their crowns of self-accumulated knowledge?

Because the creationists are coming today
and the atheists and science wonks are waiting to receive their foes.
They've even got a scroll to give them,
loaded with graphs, with imposing Greek names, with lengthy expositions of evolution.

-Why have our brightest minds and technical experts come out today
bearing their fine-wrought formatting, their fanciest tables?
Why have they brought out their loveliest fonts,
text sparkling with highlights and irridescence?

Because the creationists are coming today
and things like that dazzle the creationists.

-Why don't our distinguished orators turn up as usual
to make their speeches, say what they have to say?

Because the creationists are coming today
and they're bored by rhetoric and public speaking.

-Why this sudden bewilderment, this confusion?
(How serious people's faces have become.)
Why are the threads and forums emptying so rapidly,
everyone going home lost in thought?

Because night has fallen and the creationists haven't come.
And some of our men who have just returned from the Internet say
there are no creationists any longer.

Now what's going to happen to us without creationists?
Those people were a kind of solution.

Of course. She was in her special little shack. I imagine a lack of pigeons in his neighborhood, as well.

You're not following the Bible then, probably because you have never read it. There is nothing whatsoever that says only clergy have a duty to stone Sabbath-breakers: quite the contrary, that is the duty of all the people.
You have therefore taken the name of the Lord in vain. Prepare to die.

This is a good thing, but I would prefer the government not be involved in marriage at all. If a church or mosque or synagogue or whatever does not want to marry us, I really dont care. I wouldnt want to marry them, so there!

Not really. Its a personal and community thing. Only in the past 150 years or so has it been a state thing when racists wanted to ban interracial marriages. Before that, couples just went to their religious leader. Of course, only heterosexuals could get married. ;)
