In July of this year I made an NSG Age Poll thread, just one month after the one before. That was a tactical error on my part: of course it annoyed people to be asked to do it all over again, just a few weeks later.
So I apologize for that, and beg that it is not too soon for another. It is one year now since the 2011 NSG Age Poll I started, so this one should be directly comparable with that one to show if NS General is getting older/younger or whatever.
As with the June and July threads, ages up to 18 have their own option in the poll. If you're one of those ages, voting in the poll is all you have to do to be fully counted in the graph. You can "call out" your name in the thread if you want everyone to know, but it doesn't make any difference to the graph.
Anyone 19 or older is strongly encouraged to post their age in years (and vote the appropriate option). To make the graph I take that one vote away from the range of years and add it to just that one year on the graph. For instance, if you're 20 and say so, I take 0.33 away from the 19, 20 and 21 columns (since you voted for all three) then add 1 to the 20-yo column.
If you don't want to call out your exact age, you can give a range. For instance, "25 to 30". In that example, I would take away 0.0833 (one thwelth of a vote) from every column in the 25 - 36 range, and add 0.167 to every column 25 to 30 inclusive. It doesn't matter if the range you give overlaps one of the poll ranges ... it's more complicated for me but I can do it. Calling out the exact range which is in the poll (eg "I'm 25 - 36") makes literally no difference to the graph. You can still do it if you want everyone to know, but a narrower range would be better for the graph if you don't mind.
From past experience, not many votes come in after two weeks. Therefore, if you have your birthday in the two weeks between Dec 10 and Dec 24, you can vote and call out either the younger or the older age, whichever you prefer.
Vote for your age, and call it out if you want to.
