I learned my history in three places, public school, the bible, and the Internet.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Alamance

The Battle of Alamance was fought before Lexington and Concord by a small group of farmers with guns.

American Independence resulted from the Declaration of Independence, which legally (although in England, illegally) announced America as a sovereign nation. American independence didn't 'come' from a battle, it was a philosophical idea, largely inspired by pissed off tax-payers.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

The summer is cool, and the fall is usually pretty warm. It rains a lot during the winter, which is awesome. And the people are either really liberal, or mostly liberal. The ocean breeze is really nice. The only bad part is the seagulls, because they shit everywhere.

Inland is shit. It's hot and dry, and the people disagree with me politically. Plus they're very religious.

But everything turns to shit with the Santa Ana winds. Like right now.

I really liked Wyoming's weather, because it was really cool. I hated Nevada's weather though. And the casinos in Las Vegas are overwhelmingly filled with cigarette smoke. I thought Salt Lake City was really nice, but it was weird because we had a Mormon Church stalk us down and find our address so they could give us a Mormon Bible.

Seattle seemed really nice, and was really sunny, but I hated the 87 degrees weather when I was there. Eastern Washington was also really fucking hot, gah I hated it.

Maybe 4 or 5 years ago there was a (almost literal) firestorm in SoCal that was driven by Santa Ana winds gusting about as bad as I have ever seen them. It was so bad that, on maybe two or three different occasions, I saw a different 18-wheeler flipped on its side driving to work. And one that had tipped in the middle of a looped freeway off-ramp.

I would check in on SigAlert at work frequently to see where new fires were popping up. Truly a spectacle.

I would stay in Ohio.

This is a purple, battleground state that embraces both sides.

Politically, probably Vermont is the closest, considering that's where Bernie Sanders represents, and he's as a general rule the closest to my own opinions in Washington.

The cold though, burrr....

I don't know the area culture all that well, but I think my ideal place to live - right now - is Irvine, CA.

... Which is why I declined the offer to go to UC Irvine.

Irvine is ridiculously boring, very very conservative, and ridiculously hot. It's been over 100 degrees like twenty times this summer.

Meh, with what I keep hearing about all those women's rights violations and hate crimes against women in that state... California sounds much better in comparision! Me? I'd rather be anywhere where the Liberals dominate... Better than South Carolina is what I'm aiming for...

I live there and I've never heard of either of those things you mentioned. As for California, their gun laws are horrific.

Then I guess you don't enough about Todd Akin and his "legitimate rape" comments, then... They rub me all wrong-like (then again, so does most of the GOP in all levels of power with their constantly negaitve stances on women and their rights!).

As for California - yeah, definitely joking there! Unless I'm financially loaded or well-armed, or both... I'd definitely move to Canada to escape it all in a heartbeat!

Todd Akin =/= State of Missouri, or am I wrong and everyone in California was actually a bunch of Austrian bodybuilders?

Utah seems to have the weirdest weather patterns, at least in Orem. I'd prefer to stay here, if only it was farther away from the depression capital of America (also known as Salt Lake City).

Also, although I haven't been there, and ain't interested enough to learn anything about the on-goings of the state, Mississippi would probably be ranked on the bottom of the list.

I'm happy enough to live in my current state even though I disagree with its political leanings (Illinois :meh: ). But despite this, the Northern Midwest is closer to my politics, or rather I'm most comfortable with the general politics of the area, compared to the two coasts and the south.

Where would I not want to live? Texas and California.

Specific region: South.

best is totally subjective nonsense without some sort of context,
but i'll bite: the pacific northwest.

although i also favor any and all states that do not enforce a universal building code on rural owner-builders,
and any not dominated by lunatic fanatical pseudo, so called, "christianity".

conventionality is not a virtue,
and it is damd sure not morality.

truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

Am I slightly strange for thinking Cleveland has a certain melancholic beauty from the pictures I have seen? So there or San Francisco or the Mojave Desert or Hawaii.
