The fact that you were able to finish Twilight says more than I ever could about your ability to tolerate utter drivel and how that might have led you to believe that 'good' RPs are actually any good.

I'm a n00b too.

I've had very little RPing, and mostly peaceful. It involved mostly nobility marriages, and while I can't say I'm a brilliant writer, I at least have an idea of what to do. At least, the people I have RP'd with haven't complained.

I make a distinction between people who are merely new and inexperienced, whom I call 'newbies', and 'n00bs', who are just plain awful RPers who never follow the rules and generally refuse to learn or improve.

Having read a very small part of one Twilight book and been compelled to hide the book away lest I be constantly reminded of the crimes against literature contained therein, I'd say it's fair to characterise anybody who managed to finish the series, or even just one book, as being particularly capable of tolerating swill.

Old Tyrannia wrote:First of all, ignore all the snide and unhelpful comments, especially from the pretentious buggers who insult RPers because they think there's something superior about arguing their whackass political views rather than creative writing.

Second of all, it's up to you. If you want to debate politics, General is the go-to place. International Incidents and NationStates are for you to RP (that is, roleplay) with your nation. Portal to the Multiverse is also an RP forum, but for RPs unrelated to your NationStates nation.

Before posting in any forum, it's a good idea to read the threads at the top of the forums, or stickies, which tell you about that particular forum's rules. As well as General and the RPing forums, there is Forum 7, which is for random shit that doesn't fit anywhere else, and there's Arts & Fiction, which more or less speaks for itself. Factbooks & National Information is for posting information about your country.

Global Economics & Trade is about business-based RPs regarding your country, where you 'buy' and 'sell' stuff. NS Sports is for RPing sporting events.

You can also join the WA, which is our version of the United Nations. This allows you to vote for resolutions and stuff, I'm not a member so I don't know much beyond that.

Finally, there's the Gameplay aspect of NationStates, which we don't talk about here on the forums because even the RPers, F7ers and Generalites tend to agree that the people who don't post on forums and do these funny things called raiding and defending are just plain odd. I gather it has something to do with the WA.

For further information visit the FAQs page.

Finally, good luck and welcome to NationStates :)

I agree with this. I recommend doing RP's in international incidents or nationstates, since that's way more fun than raiding or solving issues or getting into butthurt arguments in General. Also, how did you found a region? i was considering doing it for a future series of roleplays I though about

Here's a link to the region creation page.

Same here. As I said earlier, I'm not saying I'm the best writer, as I can accept my flaws, but I don't criticize every other roleplayer on NS without even reading their work. yes, I have seen terrible RP's stuffed with one-liners and godmods, but then I've been in plenty of quality roleplays with people who took the time to invent roleplaying aspects for their country, down to history, geography, noble families, loads of great, detailed stuff. Tell me Nadkor, do you give the effort to try doing any of that?

I'd hope for your sake that you're not, as both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings are incredibly tedious, painfully stiff, and disastrously overwrought garbage, with one-dimensional characters and just endless, endless pages of absolute rubbish.

And you're making shit up as you go along. When did I ever say I was 'elite?' And more to the point, how do you expect people to get any better if they don't work at it? You should look at some of my earliest attempts to RP and compare them to my recent posts.

The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are amazing, fantastic books. Yes, they are filled with detail, but that's because Tolkein was such an incredible genius that he made up such a detailed amazing world. He made up his own languages for it, he wrote mythology for it, he drew maps, he was just awesome. Seriously, he was making up languages for fun when he was ten.
