Touche Max Barry - Touche!

Postby Shofercia » Mon Apr 02, 2012 1:07 am

I was part of a great experience, the NS Community Share Operation. Max had 25 mil, we had 19 mil and Texas had 7 mil. It was coming down to the wire - so we decided to give the shares to Texas - so that someone would beat Max, since we thought that was the challenge, and that Max would have to present a hilarious story, as a result.

So we waited for the last five minutes, and then - it turns out - that Max Barry coded the NS Community, so that the nation couldn't give out shares. Well played Mr. Barry, well played - pranking us till the last, like a Father Knows Best State.

But there was a twist. In the end, Max Barry pretended that we didn't win, and gave his shares to us. We now control 36% of NS shares.

A great April Fools Day Prank has many twists and turns, and this one kept us guessing till the last. Touche Max Barry - Touche!

So - what are you thoughts on NSG's April First experience?

I used pronouns until the mods made using wrong pronouns warnable, so I use names instead; if you see malice there, that's entirely on you, and if pronouns are no longer warnable, I'll go back to using them

I take my hat off. Full marks all round.

So, what will we have next year? A tough act to follow... but we'll still be here and ready for it.

I'm glad to be a part of it, and I'm glad to be a part of the NationStates Community.

Not just the region or nation, but the real one. The fact that we banded together like this to get as far as we did, the fact that Max and the other technical staff worked like they did... It's damned impressive, is all I can say. I'm glad to be on the same site as all of you, whether or not you supported our little endeavour, and this sort of stuff really shows just how awesome we can really be. So a toast to all of you, whether you're a Father Knows Best-State like me, a Left-leaning College State, a New York Times democracy or maybe even just an anarchy. Because this April Fools, I can't help but feel that we've all really earned it.

Happy Belated April Fools, guys.

You all rock.

Getting countless TGs of people wanting your shares wasn't pleasant. But, it's over now.

Well, I achieved my own personal goal, which was to end up in the NS 1%; given the political positions I've taken, I thought that would create plenty of lasting opportunities for humor.

It was pretty good this year, even if didn't do much and gave away my shares within a few hours.

I didn't get any such TGs... I had no shares left. :P

I still find it weird that the NS community people wanted more shares than Max, surely if you'd all personally held onto your own shares it would be more democratic.
