Hints That 'God Particle' May Exist

New data is being unveiled that may cast new light on the Higgs Boson, aka the 'God Particle', suspected of being the 'fundamental' particle responsible for mass. This mass would have been obtained as the Universe began, and the newly formed fundamental particles passed through the 'Higgs Field', where they obtained these elusive Bosons and therefore mass.

Evidence for or against the Higgs Boson would be a monumental discovery. Thoughts?

This is a massive leap forward in our understanding of the universe. If they do find it, I'll be very glad. Another great mystery cracked.

Do you think there is One True God Particle, or do you think there is a pantheon of god particles out there? And if the latter, do you think the God Particle of Thunder has a tiny little hammer?

I'm going to imagine photons as little Chariots of Apollo from now on.

what it just screamed "I HAVE THE POWER!" and created the Universe?

Cool! Now,let us discover the secrets of gravitons and dark energy, and see if superluminal travel isn't possible!
As for the term "god particle" good to emphasise importance of higgs boson, bad because it makes it sound all-powerful,it helps gravitons exist only and makes sure whales get crushed on beaches from their weight.

If String Theory is to be believed, then in some universe, this has actually happened. :)

String Theory's more believable than this seven days rubbish that came from prehistoric people.

But that's another thread for another time.

Back to "God" Particle, We must worship this ultra-powerful deity at Once.

This ^^.

Also, that could be good news for the LHC, that thing used to look pretty much useless before that discovery.

Definitely a pantheon of god particles.

I bet the gods are just trolling us with these particles and are laughing their arse off because of the human race now.

They should call it the Tehuty particle to be honest.. *cough cough*

"Gods"? Ah yes, because secretly, every eagle is Zeus in disguise. Apollo pulls the sun around with his chariot, and the sky rumbles if we disagree with Zeus.

It's actually the "Goddamn Particle", but that's not really acceptable for the media.

Agreed, I wish to become a priest for the God Particle of Thunder.

ALL HAIL LITTLE HAMMERS.

Though to be on topic, this is serious business. This could make or break this theory and if it is proven correct would finally solve another of the universes mysteries

Of course not, they're gods. Tasks like that are none of their concern.

And yes, I wonder what the outcome of all this research will be...

Without mass, particles would just whizz around at the speed of light and matter would not have formed. The nickname is just a way of saying it's vital to our very existence (if it exists).

Good point! Actually, I read/heard/imagined that the Higgs Boson may break up into more particles. Could this "HB" actually be the forehead of Zeus, from whence sprang all gods??? :p

All Gods came from Kronos, not Zeus. :ugeek:

Wow... Amazing how many people don't seem to know this is the Higgs-Boson Particle... Or if they do, they hide their excitement about how significant this is very well.

All gods were made by Tehuty, not Kronos nor Zeus :ugeek:

Or Izanagi ofcourse... who is quite similar to Tehuty.
