Hold up on the beer for a sec, athiests that I know (that follow morals) justify their morals based on a fellowship of man mentality and a good-will way to live that keeps society together and well off, to them they do not need a divine being to tell them yes or no on what they will perceive as negative and what they will perceive as positive

I am god. I dictate my life. I am the divine, supreme ruler of my body, bound by the laws of physics. I am god.

By your morals? Without divine presence, how do you justify your morals? Without the existance of a supreme being, such things cannot truly exist.

Morals do not exist. Merely an outdated illusion used to corral humans. I shape and mold my ethics the way I see fit. The more pragmatic, mathematically logical it is, the more I will accept such ethics.

I believe in a supreme being, but I don't believe in the concept of morals. And in life, I forge my own purpose, like any other human construct or concept that humans arbitrarily form their own meanings of.

Technically christian, but I don't follow any creed. Mainly because they base their faith on documents two thousand years old, and must take it on faith that the same people who; caused a holy war, tortured hundreds of thousands of people, destroyed anyone who a different view of theirs, and tried to sell salvation did not alter them in anyway. I believe in God. I believe in the Christ (its his title, in Greek, not his name). And I believe humans are capable both the greatest good and greatest evil. So as I said I believe I am christian but most would say I am not.

Oh yes it can. You're just not being creative about it. I can research or develop more ways to improve my models and thus, the beauty of my ethics is that it can never be "wrong".

Why MUST atheists be able to justify there sense of morals, couldn't it simply be because they feel that there choices can have a positive affect on mankind without needing some great reward after death. Just doing the right thing to do the right thing?

Is it a three syllable or one syllable name?

Like Ma-gen-ta

Or just magenta?

Funny, because I can say the same thing about your beliefs. But no, one can never get tired of math.

And who said I live in a turtle shell because I believe in a supreme being?

You clearly need a supreme being to dictate you.

Just say if you are Atheist, and why? Also if your Theist please say so and why, also if you would not mind listing your religion it would be great.

I opened this thread out of plain curiosity, personally I am a Theist, who worships the Greek goddess Hecate.

Agnostic atheist.

Agnostic, because I'm willing to be convinced, if any convincing evidence were possible... but I'm not convinced it is.

Atheist, because I lack belief in any of the god scenarios I've encountered.

I tried Atheism, it made me feel empty and more alone than ever before. An example of a Catholic saying- "God be with you, and with me." Something about it sounds like, "May the Force be with you."!

Heh, I was a Catholic deconverted into an atheist because I didn't like being dictated by someone or something I can't even see.
