Milks Empire
IM Contacts: Ask in a private message.
Player Profile:
The People's Democratic Republic of Milks Empire
Real Name: Charles Fee
Age: 19
General Location: Central New York
General Political Affiliation [if any]: registered Democrat on paper, but libertarian social democrat in practice
General Religious Affiliation [if any]: In the process of converting to Roman Catholicism
Where Did You Find NationStates?: Facebook
Have you read any of Max Barry's books: no, but Jennifer Government looks like a good read
Professional Goal: to ignite the flames of passion for learning in high school students
How many hours a day do you watch TV?: Depends - 1 or 2 at home; almost never on campus
What is your favorite genre of music: US country, though anything but screaming or rap is fine by me
Other information: Rain check?
Political Beliefs:
Abortion should be an option up to fetal viability, but can doesn't mean should.
Affirmative Action should be based on socioeconomic status, not skin color.
Arms Trade needs to be defined better, but if you're talking official deals between countries, it's probably not a good idea.
Death Penalty is absolutely barbaric and outdated.
Drugs should be looked at on a case-by-case basis, and cannabis specifically should be decriminalized.
Economic System: *looks at Denmark and France*
Education should be among any country's top three priorities.
Electoral College in USA Elections needs to be torn down. It's not 1787 anymore.
Environmentalism is a good idea - since we all eat, drink, and breathe, it would be smart of us to watch what we dump.
Euthanasia should be an option for the terminally ill.
Evolution or Creation?: In science classes? Exclusively evolution. Leave any creation stories in Comparative Religions.
FCC: To hell with censorship!
Gay Marriage should be allowed under the law. Religion has no place whatsoever in this discussion.
Gun Control: Reasonably regulated. Make sure you're not nuts and that you know what you're doing.
Health Care is a right, not a privilege. Vital care should be provided as such, but Barbie Bimbo is on her own for her boob job.
Immigration Policies: Streamline the process.
Income Tax: Progressive in nature. End the loopholes for the rich.
Israel & Palestine: Israel needs to stop the genocide. Hamas needs to stop the rocket attacks and suicide bombings.
Philosophy iz too filisoficul. Leev it to Ceiling Cat.
Political Party Affiliation: Registered as a Democrat.
President Bush & American Policies: George Bush and his lackeys need to be tried for their war crimes.
Prostitution: License each prostitute on an individual basis. No pimps other than the prostitute him/herself.
Religion: I'm converting to Catholicism, but I'm open to serious discussion.
Social Security is broken, but can be fixed. Extend the FICA tax to everyone including the rich.
The UN is still useful, regardless of what John Bolton says.
Veganism & Vegetarianism isn't something I could see myself doing, but more power to those who do it.
War in Iraq: Wrong from the start.
War on Terror: See above.

I Eldalante
IM Contacts: Are in my profile so stop being effing lazy
Political Beliefs: See below
La Federation de I Eldalante
Real Name: James
Age: 21
General Location: Tennessee, United States
Abortion: Is the right of a woman. Embryo's do not have rights. Rights do not pertain to potential, only to an actual being. To oppose abortion is to support the obliteration of the rights of the living for the sake of the non-living.
Affirmative Action: Is based on racial premises and thus inherently suspect. Racism is amongst the worst forms of collectivist/socialist thinking, and it is my reasoned oppinion that affirmative action perpetuates racism and does nothing to address it.
Arms Trade: As far as the government selling arms, it should obviously pay attention to who it sells stuff to in the rational self interest of its people (the US, for example, would be really stupid to offer North Korea Abrams tanks for example). In the private sector, the market will establish what needs to be.
Death Penalty: In circumstances where the guilt of the person of a capital crime is beyond doubt, they have shown a wanton disregard for the right of other persons to the life that they themselves can achieve, and in so doing have forfeited all of their rights. My choosing to disregard the meaning of others life, they have also forfeited that consideration for themself.
Drugs: Drug use itself represents a complete failure on the part of the user to grasp, understand and deal with objective reality. That said, there should be no laws against recreational drug use if a person so chooses, but they must also bear all the consequences of their actions themselves.
Economic System: Laissez-faire capitalism
Education: Is an extremely important thing. There is nothing so dangerous to tyranny than a well educated man. However, when the state controls education, that danger can be reduced through indoctrination by the schools. Education belongs in the private sector as a choice made by individuals and outside of any and all state control or interference.
Electoral College in USA Elections: Was designed very carefully the preserve the powers of the states versus the Federal Government (the balance of which has become seriously bad of late). Anyone who is capable of reading the Constitution and comprehending it would know that the House of Representatives is the only body that the framers intentionally placed at the whim of the people, and as we're finding out, for good reason. The electoral college was meant to empower the states and balance the interests among them, and its purpose was never to actually have the people elect the President (though every state has now excercised its power to have its electors elected by the populace).
Environmentalism: Pure unaldulterated evil in the form of hatred for human life and what it is capable of achieving.
Euthanasia: Is an individual decision between a patient and their doctor and is not the business of the state
Evolution or Creation?: Represents the best and most rational explination of life on Earth and thus the one which should be followed, though one should not reject proper, well founded and thus valid criticism of evolution should/if/when it is raised (note, RELIGION IS NOT EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE A VALID CRITICISM TO ME)
FCC: Is quite likely completely unconstitutional, and is at any rate a tool that serves solely to harm humanity and advance the state interest. The market is quite capable of forcing people to keep their language and content in check (I'd chuck cable in an instant if they ever thought Queer as Folk was a children's show for example, though I as a teenager and adult have enjoyed it immensely
Gay Marriage: Marriage is not an institution with which the state has any business. The social contracts that make up civil marriage should be removed from the realm of marriage and any person should be able to enter into those contracts with any other person (or group of persons for that matter) they so choose so long as everyone involved consents (which also implies they are capable of doing so) with no regard as to the sex, age, or relationship of those people.
Gun Control: Against.
Immigration Policies: Immigration is generally a good thing. However, it can and should be limited to the extent required to maintain law and order. Anyone entering the country illegally has by definition comitted a crime and should thus be treated as a criminal.
Income Tax: The state has to procure funds for those of its activities that are proper, so a flat rate universally appplicable income tax would be acceptable. The current structure is morally reprehensible as it punishes people for being sucessful and thus encourages mediocrity and failure.
Israel/Palestine: Is something that the Israeli's and Palestinians will have to solve. I support, morally, Israel and would sanction as moral any agreement between Israel and the Arab population within its controlled zones as to a two-party solution, but I would also accept Israel as the single state for the territory with full equality for all of its citizens under the law (strictly speaking, I am morally opposed to the Israeli government as it is a theocracy, but it is prefrable to a Muslim dicatorship).
Philosophy: Is something that everyone needs. We all use it, without even acknolweding it every time we act. Philosophy deals with what we know, how we know it, and what we should do with what we know. It is impossible to avoid answering those questions, and thus it is sad that so few are now formally acquianted with the science.
Political Party Affiliation: I have none. Both major US parties are morally rephrensible, as are my alternative third parties.
President Bush/American Policies: It would take me far too long to dissect this for the purposes of this thread. Let's say he did a few things good, a lot that was bad, and some that was just meh.
Prostitution: Is a business transaction and thus outside of state bounds except in so far as everyone involved in the transaction must consent, and the contract be enforced.
Religion: Is a force of evil and is fundamentally opposed to humanity.
Social Security: Is not something the state should provide.
The UN: Is completely useless.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: Is stupid, but a personal choice and thus everyone should be free to do it if they want.
War in Iraq: Did and does absolutely nothing to further American interests, and thus a collossal waste of time. However, now that we've fucked up Iraq and destroyed the more or less stable government to form an anarchy and civil war contrary to the interests of the people of Iraq, it is our fuck up to fix.
War on Terror: Is a moral imperative, in the sense that we must confront, oppose and annihilate the philosophical doctrines and ideas that form the basis of terrorism, as well as millitarily destroy the ability to harm American interests.

Please note, any time I refer to American interests, it is because I am American and thus those are the interests that I in my own rational self interest wish to further, and were I a citizen of say, France, I would have talked about French interests. Naturally, sometimes a nations interests coincide with other nations' self interest (for example, combatting international piracy) and other times they don't. Where they coincide we can and should work together if it will bring benefit. Also, I believe that each nation can and should act in furtherment of its own interests.
Ghosts represent the portion of each person's body that is taken away and held in slavery in a firey hell-dimension because of taxation.
Ultimately, their appearance is a futile appeal to the blinded masses to embrace Objectivism.
Will someone not please think of the ghosts?

General Religious Affiliation [if any]: Pagan
Where Did You Find NationStates?: Friend told me about it back on December of '02
Have you read any of Max Barry's books: Yes
Professional Goal: To continue working in this crappy economy
How many hours a day do you watch TV?: 1 or 2
What is your favorite genre of music: Pretty much anything, but mostly either Goth Metal or Country.
other information: BA in History from Cal State, Sacramento. Former Infantry Officer.

Abortion: yes
Affirmative Action: no
Arms Trade: only with nations we can trust
Death Penalty: yes
Drugs: no
Economic System: keep the governments nose out of it as much as feasable
Education: all in favor of it
Electoral College in USA Elections: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Environmentalism: some is a good thing, but with most issues, those most passionate about it go to the very edge of extremes.
Euthanasia: personal choice
Evolution or Creation?: evolution
FCC:
Gay Marriage: who somebody bunks with ain't nobody's business but their own. keep the gov't out of the bedroom.
Gun Control: .... is hitting your target
Immigration Policies: legal, all in favor of it; illegal, not a chance.
Income Tax: flat tax
Israel/Palestine: blockade their countries until they work it out. if they decide they can act like civilized people, then start letting folk back in and out then. an international "time out"
Philosophy: I like the Monty Python version
Political Party Affiliation: Libertarian
President Bush/American Policies: Bush was not as bad as the left wants to make him out. He is not as good as the right wants to make him out. average president who tried hard, but had a couple bad advisors.
Prostitution: legalize it.
Religion: Pagan. and the gov't needs to keep out of the religion business.
Social Security: only a few more years for me, then y'all can pay my rent. LOL
The UN: mostly useless
Veganism/Vegetarianism: meat is murder. tender, juicy, tasty murder. If folks want to just graze, so be it. My preference is for meat.
War in Iraq: mishandled. One would think that congress and the media would have learned from Viet Nam that micro-manageing a war from their comfy chairs in D.C. DOES NOT WORK
War on Terror: Wipe 'em out.

Where Did You Find NationStates?: Google, I suppose.
Have you read any of Max Barry's books: Jennifer Government and the first forty pages of Machine Man.
Professional Goal: Musician with wise investments.
How many hours a day do you watch TV?: None. I waste my life on the internet.
What is your favorite genre of music: Orchestral rock, Halo-style.
Political Beliefs:
Abortion: Pro-choice.
Affirmative Action: Very good idea. Interesting to watch the overly literal interpretations of it, though.
Arms Trade: Loosen gun control a bit and sap the black market. Illegal sales are BAD.
Death Penalty: Nope. Life in prison is potentially worse for the psyche.
Drugs: Disapprove of illegal drug use, but find the claims that marijuana will ruin your life interesting given that the last three presidents have smoked it.
Economic System: Favour deregulation, but there have to be limits. WorkChoices was a horrible idea.
Education: Creationism is not science, nor is abstinence-only sex ed.
Electoral College in USA Elections: Not a USian, but think that as soon as direct election becomes practicable it should be implemented.
Environmentalism: Firmly in favour of sustainable energy and looking for heavier enforcement of Kyoto. The US needs to sign it also.
Euthanasia: is an individual right and as such should be legal.
Evolution or Creation?: Evolution.
FCC: Tear it down. Everything is worthy of broadcast - if people don't like it, they won't watch it.
Gay Marriage: Government in the bedroom is a bad thing.
Gun Control: The US is just fine as is. The Commonwealth of Nations needs to loosen up a little, though.
Immigration Policies: Legal immigration should be easier, so as to cut down on illegal immigration. See 'arms trade' above.
Income Tax: Only what the government needs in order to run.
Israel/Palestine: I support Israel.
Philosophy: Some of it is deep. Some of it is BS.
Political Party Affiliation: Australian Labour Party. Probably voting Liberal if this Cleanfeed BS is implemented.
President Bush/American Policies: Bush wasn't the worst president the US has ever had, but certainly close to it. Obama represents change, which is what the US needs.
Prostitution: Legalise it. See 'arms trade' and 'immigration policies' for a general idea why.
Religion: As long as it's moderate, it's fine. Evangelism sickens me.
Social Security: Dole bludgers rub me the wrong way. There are, however, those who do actually need social security.
The UN: works nicely when people refuse to recognise they have problems. Kind of like an intervention for the international psyche.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: shows an impressive level of commitment and may be the way to go, but isn't my style.
War in Iraq: Done badly. Would have been better if US had had a more solid premise.
War on Terror: Needs to happen, but some of the homeland security measures going on are just ridiculous.

Chumblywumbly

The Libertarian Municipalities of Chumblywumbly

Abortion: Should be legal up until the point where science and philosophical discussion determines it not viable.
Affirmative Action: If it can genuinely help the disadvantaged without belittling all merit, then it is no bad thing.
Arms Trade: Perhaps the single industry that needs most transparency and scrutiny.
Death Penalty: Too open to abuse to be a viable option.
Drugs: Complete legalisation, with correct education and social awareness.
Economic System: "From each according to ability, to each according to need." Broadly support anarcho-communist economics.
Education: Highly important; currently should be funded up until end of first degree, with generous grants available for graduates.
Electoral College in USA Elections: Silly, but then so is the British FPTP system or any other liberal 'democratic' system, for that matter.
Environmentalism: Social ecologist with a holistic, yet mildly anthropocentric, environmental virtue ethic.
Euthanasia: Complete legalisation, with correct education and social awareness.
Evolution or Creation?: Evolution; though the two are not incompatible.
FCC: Idiocy institutionalised.
Gay Marriage: Of course.
Gun Control: Complete legalisation, with correct education and social awareness.
Immigration Policies: Open borders.
Income Tax: Necessary within the capitalist system.
Israel/Palestine: I don't care who started it, you can both go to your rooms until you learn to play nice.
Philosophy: Moral realist, neo-Aristotelian virtue ethicist with interests in dialethism, aesthetics and Humean epistemology.
Political Party Affiliation: I have no truck with the party political system.
President Bush/American Policies: Bunch o' pish.
Prostitution: Not inherently bad at all, but root change, including on a social conciousness level, needs to be achieved.
Religion: Agnostic in theory, atheist in practice with Discordian and Zen leanings.
Social Security: Necessary within the capitalist system.
The UN: A castrated organisation ruled by a clique. Unfortunate situation.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: I am a lacto-ovo vegetarian, though trying to cut out dairy.
War in Iraq: A Bad Thing.
War on Terror: See above.

Abortion: I'm all for it in all cases. Religious dogma shouldn't be able to tell a woman what she can and can't do with her body.
Affirmative Action: It's a fundamentally flawed and racist system. Scholarships and education should be based on the student's intellectual ability, not their ethnic background and skin color.
Arms Trade: It needs to be regulated to make sure that weapons don't fall in to the hands of rogue nations like North Korea
Death Penalty: It should only be used for extreme circumstances as in the case of Saddam. Otherwise, it is completely immoral and barbaric.
Drugs: They needs to be strictly controlled and out of the hands of the population.
Economic System: Treat businesses like you would any other citizen. They are not above the law and therefore should not have such disturbing power in politics and over people's freedoms. Also, all the breaks shouldn't be going to the rich. They don't need them. Let's have a nice mixture of both capitalism and socialism because if left unchecked, both systems will lead us to our doom.
Education: Fix up the system and be sure to update all public schools with the latest knowledge and technology, but keep the government relatively out of it to prevent it from becoming a way of brainwashing and conforming the masses. Let the parents decide if they can send their kids to a public or private school. The world needs education if it is to move on with the times.
Electoral College in USA Elections: I'm not an American, so I have no opinion.
Environmentalism: It is a good idea in itself, but has become too polarized and corrupted by the wrong people.
Euthanasia: I'm all for it especially if it ends the person's incurable suffering. It should be a private matter between the patient and the doctor.
Evolution or Creation?: Evolution. It's quite ridiculous to believe that it took seven days for some dude in the sky to snap his fingers and create the world. Creation should not be taught as science and should be kept in Sunday school and in the home, not the classroom.
FCC: It is nothing short of a censorship organization designed to force its morality on the population while sexually repressing the masses. Television and other media needs to be free from its tryanny. The sooner it is scrapped, the better.
Gay Marriage: Again, religious dogma should not be the decider on other people's love and freedom. It should be completely legal and not be something to be decided on in an election. An oppressive and ignorant majority do not have the right to take away or prevent a harmless minority from enjoying the same rights they do. Also, those people who are running propaganda campaigns against it and spreading anti-gay sentiments should be fined for hate speech.
Gun Control: There's a difference between wanting to buy a gun to protect your family and another to buy a machine gun designed to rip out the guts of your enemies. It should be closely monitored so the gun nuts don't get too excited and cause problems. The store owner also needs to run checks and tests to make sure whoever purchasing the gun has no criminal record, is emotionally stable, and can keep the gun away from any children. The person should be 18 or older and the store should be kept as far away from schools as possible.
Immigration Policies: We need to open our borders and give visas and citizenship to the so-called illegals already in the country. The checking of new arrivals needs to be reformed in a way so it doesn't discriminate, but keeps the country safe.
Income Tax: It needs to be replaced with a flat tax to pay for the government programs and activities that actually work.
Israel/Palestine: Both sides need to top the hate and boming the shit out of each other, but Israel has a right to exist without any pressure and attacks from extremist groups.
Philosophy: Don't really have one
Political Party Affiliation: See the above note about the parties I support.
President Bush/American Policies: In a Comic Book Guy voice "Worst President Ever." Horrid policies that accomplished nothing. I already listed them in another post I made in the best President thread.
Prostitution: As long as it doesn't involve children, I'm all for it. Just keep it closely monitored so the pimps and those involved don't turn it into a sex trade.
Religion: Religion is the enemy of freedom and a barrier to social progress. It needs to be completely taken out of politics and the classroom. I don't support banning it, just letting it die on its own when people eventually realize how meaningless and problematic it is. I have no problem with the moderates who don't force it upon everyone else, but I'm disgusted by any kind of evangelism and fundamentalism. Leave those of us who disagree with your values alone.
Social Security: It should be expanded
The UN: Is useless for the most part
Veganism/Vegetarianism: I have no problems with it.
War in Iraq: Completely uncalled for and unnecessary. Bush and his cronies should be tried for war crimes.
War on Terror: See above. A completely immoral, unethical, and unneeded system that does nothing but violate our privacy, takes away our freedom, demonizes Muslims, and gives America a very bad name.
"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." Benjamin Franklin
"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." Albert Einstein

The Eternal Empire of Jordaxia
Real Name:Sophie
Age:22
General Location:UK
General Political Affiliation [if any]: Too nuanced - I am inclined towards those who espouse most personal freedom without believing the free market is the best option.
General Religious Affiliation [if any]:Atheist
Where Did You Find NationStates?:PC zone magazine
Have you read any of Max Barry's books: not currently.
Professional Goal: None. I have personal goals, but careers seem a nice way to give your life to somebody else. Should my professional life coincide with my personal life, then I may one day have professional goals.
How many hours a day do you watch TV?: none on average. I usually only follow one TV show at a time, and they tend only to be on once a week, and none of them are on right now.
What is your favorite genre of music: Don't have a favourite. I have a dislike for country and western as well as gangster rap.
Other information: None to give.

Political Beliefs:

Abortion: A womans right to choose should never be impeded.
Affirmative Action: Disagree on it ideologically, practically it is necessary.
Arms Trade: I have no opinion on the trading of arms other than a wish that people didn't find it necessary.
Death Penalty: We should be above putting our own kind to death.
Drugs: The legal ones seem more problematic than the illegal ones. the western attitude to drugs is immature and unhealthy. on one hand a puritanical fear of them and on the other dangerous overindulgence.
Economic System: The free market fails, and frequently. The French system currently seems to be the best for providing economic security to the most people whilst still allowing the exceptional to excel.
Education: Everyone should be entitled to a full education, including university as long as they work hard enough.
Electoral College in USA Elections: I've no real opinion on it, but as all first past the post systems, it's inefficient and outdated.
Environmentalism: Need more please.
Euthanasia: Humans should die at a time of their choosing.
Evolution or Creation?: Evolution, of course.
FCC: What does this mean? I've never heard of it.
Gay Marriage: Of course I am for this. all loving unions should be recognised. I am however, opposed to the denial of certain economic benefits based on marriage status.
Gun Control: Sounds like a good idea.
Immigration Policies: Should be progressive. perhaps we would not have such a high immigration demand if we looked at humanity, rather than just our own back yards?
Income Tax: If you make a lot of money, you have the state to be thankful for your opportunity to do so.
Israel/Palestine: it's interesting to see who can lose the moral high ground fastest. It's almost like they're competing to be the most immature. Israel just has more tanks.
Philosophy: This seems woefully vague. I agree with the concept of philosophy. Am I being asked to describe my philosophy? Happy Nihilism. This is all we have and it's all there is. Make the most of it.
Political Party Affiliation: Liberal Democrat, until someone better comes along.
President Bush/American Policies: I'm glad he's gone. I'm yet to be convinced that the new one is the promised miracle.
Prostitution: Should be legalised and regulated.
Religion: Seems a bit pointless to me, and causes untold misery. Ultimately I can't ask for it to be banned, but I hope people distance themselves from it in my lifetime.
Social Security: I've heard of it. What is this?
The UN: Makes me laugh. Good idea, pathetically implemented.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: Whatever makes you happy. I understand the philosophy and even agree with parts, but ultimately I do not see myself as obliged to not eat an animal. I would prefer however, it is kept content and happy during its life. There's no need to be cruel.
War in Iraq: A laughable diversion from the one place that can be salvaged - Afghanistan
War on Terror: A laughable diversion that will be lost just as all the other wars on concepts have been. Silently abandoned when we grow out of it. Target a dangerous human foe and by all means eliminate them, but you can't 'destroy terror' with rockets.
...gorgonopsids.

Economic System: Free-market capitalism with a sizeable safety net

Hugh
wesmenno@yahoo.com

I am older than any two of you put together.

I am a retired attorney and unemployed Mennonite pastor (no congregations within 55 miles of us); I am adjunct at a nearby college.

Mennonites are like Amish with cars and computers.

I am a warmongering pacifist.

I write songs, stories and poems, play the piano and guitar (both professionally). I successfully defended an angel dust addict in a trial for rape, went to church with Black Panthers, was homeless and lived in a tent, canoed the length of a Canadian lake by starlight, interviewed successfully for staff attorney for the Navojos in Flagstaff, physically saved a small boy from malpractice and a young teen from sexual abuse, was lied to spat upon, shot at, beaten senseless and had a semi trailer truck rammed into my house.

I am a social liberal and economic conservative; i believe in responsible but limited government, but mistrust unbridled corporate power.

I cook, kayak, hike, am fascinated by theology, and spend way too much time online.

I drive a pickup truck and live within the boundaries of NY's Adirondack PArk.

General Political Affiliation [if any]: I dunno, none really. I find terms like 'left' or 'right' over simplify ones political stance to unnecessary extremes. Even broad labels have certain limiting factors, any of which make me uncomfortable to call myself by such terms. I guess I try to see every issue with my eyes wide open, on the ground running, without any preconceived notions or opinions.
General Religious Affiliation [if any]: The Church of Lemmy...

Have you read any of Max Barry's books: No, but I said I did to remove the ad
Professional Goal: Hell if I know
How many hours a day do you watch TV?: Depends on if I'm home or at College. At home around 2, at college maybe 30 minutes.
What is your favorite genre of music: Rock, especially the classics
Other information:
Political Beliefs:
Abortion: Pro-choice, believe it should be decided statewide and not nationwide.
Affirmative Action: Should be income, not race, based
Arms Trade: Don't interfere with the free market
Death Penalty: Pro death penalty for most horrible crimes
Drugs: pro-legalization, especially for marijuana
Economic System: Capitalism, the "free market" of the past has hardly been a "free market." Pro-Friedman, Hayek, and Mises libertarian school. Austrianism and Chicagoan schools are both acceptable.
Education: Currently attending university.
Electoral College in USA Elections: Should be abolished or at least reformed. Personally think a Westminster parliamentary system is the most effective method of government.
Environmentalism: Pro-alternative sources of energy, don't want to disregard nuclear power. Ethanol is a waste of time and resources. Not a firm believer in global warming doomsday scenarios, but still believe in global warming.
Euthanasia: Pro-legalization
Evolution or Creation?: I don't think the two schools are mutually exclusive, and accept a combination of the two. God set things in place for evolution to occur.
FCC: Stupid, but sometimes i wonder if they do have some purpose
Gay Marriage: Pro-legalization and equal rights
Gun Control: Pro-guns. Look at the Australia and the UK, who prove that stringent gun control does not work.
Immigration Policies: Upgrade immigration control. I want to accept everyone who wants to come in, I just want them to come in legally.
Income Tax: Should be lower for all citizens, not just the rich or the poor, Why does the middle class always get shafted when it comes to tax cuts?
Israel/Palestine: Theoretically, Britain did have the power to create Israel, since they had full control over Palestine due to the League of Nations mandate. Regardless, they obviously didn't show much foresight. Pro-niether side. The only possible resolution consists of two states. Let's figure it out.
Philosophy: Erm... What about it?
Political Party Affiliation: Not specifically affiliated with anyone, voted Ron Paul in the primaries and McCain in the elections, but didn't particularly care for Paul and hated McCain. They were just better than the alternatives.
President Bush/American Policies: Glad Bush is gone. He was hardly a conservative. Smaller government my ass.
Prostitution: Legalize it.
Religion: I'm a Christian, as I said above. Everyone should be allowed to freely worship, and the church should be divided from the state.
Social Security: It's a waste of money. The bloated system can hardly support itself now and won't be able to do so in the future.
The UN: Decent enough an idea, better than the League of Nations, but in reality if the USA wants to do something we're going to do it. The same goes for the other powerhouse nations (Russia, China).
Veganism/Vegetarianism: Good for them?
War in Iraq: Against the reasons for going into Iraq. Against the bullshit campaign of Bush. However, now that we are there, I don't want to see us leave fully until Iraq's functioning government can stably exist on it's own. I'd like to keep at least one base there for 15 years and then leave completely, but I don't see that happening.
War on Terror: Silly, inept, but for a good cause. All in all counter-productive in the end though.

Real Name: Ben
Age: 17, as of May 2009
General Location: Michigan, United States of America
General Political Affiliation [if any]: Left leaning
General Religious Affiliation [if any]: Episcopal/Anglican (Non-practicing)
Where Did You Find NationStates?: I found the link to it on Jennifer Government's Wikipedia page.
Have you read any of Max Barry's books: Yes, Jennifer Government
Professional Goal: Broadcast journalist
How many hours a day do you watch TV?: Very little. I usually spend (read: waste) my days on the Internet.
What is your favorite genre of music: I like pop, and Alternative Rock.

Abortion: I don't have a uterus, so it's not my decision to make. But I fully support the right of the woman to choose to have an abortion. I do believe that abortions should be illegal after the child is able to survive outside of the womb.
Affirmative Action: I do not support giving people advantages based on their race/ethnicity/nationality. This is the same as giving people disadvantages based on such things.
Death Penalty: I support the death penalty, on grounds of premeditated murder only. However, I think certain proof, such as DNA, is needed before one is executed.
Drugs: I am for the legalization and commercialization of marijuana. As for more severe drugs such as heroin, cocaine, etc, these should remain illegal.
Economic System: Some regulation of the economy is necessary.
Education: Absolutely vital. Education should be a higher priority, because a country can't be run by people who haven't been educated. I believe that evolution should be taught in schools, and abstinence-only sex ed should not.
Electoral College in USA Elections: I am in favor of ending the use of the electoral college, but this does not need to happen immediately.
Environmentalism: This is the only planet we've got, folks. For now, at least. Let's try and not, y'know, completely obliterate it.
Euthanasia: A person should, s/he choose so, be able to die “with dignity”.
Evolution or Creation?: Evolution.
FCC: [beep]
Gay Marriage: I am for full, gay marriage, nationwide. No DOMA, no “civil unions”.
Gun Control: The Constitution says we have the right to bear arms. That doesn't mean that things like a three-day waiting period and bans on ridiculous weapons like AK-47s go against our rights. No one needs an automatic rifle like that unless you plan on going on a killing spree.
Immigration Policies: Legal immigration is what this country is all about. I believe that people should go through the proper channels to enter this country, though.
Income Tax: I am for it. Taxes are not the devil.
Israel/Palestine: A two state solution.
Political Party Affiliation: Can't vote just yet. Barring any major political paradigm shifts, I will vote Democratic.
President Bush/American Policies: That is so last year.
Prostitution: Should be legal and regulated. But that isn't going to happen in the US any time soon, we all know it.
Religion: A person has absolutely every right to practice a religion, should s/he choose to do so. Religion needs to be kept as far from government as possible, however.
Social Security: It's a good thing.
The UN: (I thought you couldn't say that here anymore.) I'm all for it, it just needs to be strengthened and reformed a bit.
Veganism/Vegetarianism: I'm all for those who wish to not eat meat. Just please don't call me a murderer when I bite into my delicious, heart-stopping Baconator.
War in Iraq: Was completely pointless. We have no reason to be there.
War on Terror: Terrorism is bad, m'kay. But it's not the job of the United States to go around the world, shooting at things willy-nilly because they're terrorists. Osama bin Laden does need to be found.
