its not the same as recreational drug addiction (ex marijuana, heroin, coke).

Caffeine is just a food you really like, like soda or chips. Its not messing with you and its not destroying you.

there's nothing wrong with Starbucks or ice cream.

I go to Stabucks all the time, its one of my favorite coffee places. What's your point?

You can't compare caffeine to really addictive and harmful drugs like marijuana.

I believe you aren't consistent in your opinions. I've read your posts before, and... this shouldn't floor me, actually. I believe you are hypcritical to judge others like this.

Caffeine is addictive Kef.

Then how come I can drink over twenty cups of tea in one day and then not drink tea again for months?

At any rate, caffeine isn't comparable. It's not recreational-drug dangerous.

It is a recreational drug. Stop lying.

It's a recreational drug. There's a ton of people who are addicted to it and since you like first hand accounts, my mom is. That woman can't 12 hours without a cup of coffee.

Infected Mushroom wrote:If we made possession of marijuana legal, then people are going to exploit this and store marijuana in plain sight in their homes.

You know, depending on who is coming over we kind of already do that. I mean, not as a practice in the same way I don't store chicken in plain sight in my home. And I'm not using it as window dressing or anything for the same reason I don't hang my computer in the window.

But even then, this is really hands down the most bizarre...oh heck, let's be generous and call it a "concern" about marijuana legalization. "Oh crap, people won't store it somewhere!" Holy fuck.

I can't even come up with a sarcastic fallout from such a horrible occurrence.
Infected Mushroom wrote:Then they have more bases to sell this stuff illegally to schoolchildren, teenagers, the poor and other vulnerable people.

You seem like the kind of cat who hates hippies. You'll love this.
Infected Mushroom wrote:It makes no sense to legalize possession from a law enforcement perspective. It makes it impossible to arrest any drug dealers unless they are caught in the very act of dealing.

They for the most part aren't going to bother anymore, thus freeing them up to prevent actual crimes.
Infected Mushroom wrote:If the police show up, someone can just throw their hands up and say ,

''Hey I'm just keeping all of these drugs in my house for my own consumption. I ain't selling. Get the fuck out!''

I wonder how they get people who sell things they shouldn't that are otherwise legal like cigarettes etc.
Infected Mushroom wrote:I see a lot of drug dealers escaping justice.

Mostly because most of them would be doing it legally.

But I guess you're focusing on the 'possession' part and assuming no other laws are changed. That's silly. Don't be silly.

Both are much more addictive? And cigarettes are much worse for your health then the other two.

Both are more addictive and the other gives you cancer.

I suppose that will not matter, because comparing caffeine to anything else is dismissed immediately.

I don't think we're all operating on the same definition of 'exact'...

I'm an oxygen addict. I've got to take a breath of the stuff every few seconds, it seems. You can find it at oxygen bars (in violation of FDA regulatoions, I might add), among other places. Still, misuse of the drug oxygen can lead to retinal detachment, and seizures. We should start a discussion about making that illegal as well.

@Mushroom

Caffeine's a drug whether you socially accept it or not. It's the problem with the terms "Drugs and Alcohol". Alcohol is, by definition, a drug. Just like caffeine, just like ibuprofen, just like basic vaccines.

Opiates are highly addictive and the body rapidly builds a tolerance towards them, which limits their effective use to those patients that are in large amounts of pain. Marijuana, on the other hand, is much less addictive and, while a tolerance is still built over time, is less likely to result in lethal side effects and drug interactions. Cigarettes cause cancer, Marijuana doesn't inherently do so.

First, we can, because caffeine and marijuana are both recreational drugs.

The ironic thing is that less people die from marijuana than caffeine. You should flip the substances in your sentence.

Not really. Smoking it can, sure, but it doesn't have to be smoked. Indeed, medical cannabis for pain management is often eaten because the effects both last longer and are more body specific, rather than giving one a head high.
