Well, no.
Islam is, at least at its foundations, a warrior's religion, like Sikhism. That doesn't mean it's reducible to a bunch of half-wits with AK-47's screaming "Allahu Akbar" at the top of their lungs, but it certainly is not a religion of peace. It was founded by a warlord, after all.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think we could historically say that Islamic institutions have had a difficult relationship with violence and at the same time not stone all modern Muslims.
