Should have setup a simple low yield iron golem farm.

It was a casual server, none of us were that good.

Been not posting here because... I've been playing Minecraft.

And other games too, but lots of Minecraft.

I find I like building and surviving and exploring. I tried a PvP server, but I hated it. I was paranoid half the time and had to hook up with friendlies the other half. Then again, I hate being alone more. Really like talking to people, at least. Love working together. Been planning on building a big Victorian mansion straight out of Lovecraft Country to go with Thaumcraft.

I was exploring around a world I have, and I found a really high mountain that looks suspiciously like a giant middle finger.

Get your mind out of the gutter, Kaboom. :p

Trust me, there are far worse things you could have seen in that mountain.

Creating a giant underwater dome of glass of 400x400 was a bad idea. Certainly a bad idea in survival.

At the moment, the server on where I play is updating soon (not giving the name because that goes against NSG rules), to have a new survival.

Now, I wonder, guys; what would be the best and fastest way to create an underwater dome of, let's say, 300x300 to 400x400?

Assumed is that:

• I have sponges enough (~64 or 2x64)
• I have one up to three friends to help me
• I have the resources ready
• I am playing 2-3 hours per day

If any of you could give me a possible solution, I'd be very grateful

How deep's the water? If you have enough sand/gravel (would probably be about 150 stacks, tbh), you might be able to block off the water and work on dry land. Then take all your dirt/sand/gravel back.

The water is on sea level. So, around y = 64 up to y = 30.

I ran the numbers. You'd need 636 stacks of dirt/sand/gravel for a 34-level dam of 1198 perimeter.

I build underwater too much for how good I am at actually building something good. I've wasted so much time filling in water with sand...

What's everyone's opinion on the 1.9 update?

I think it's going to be a major shakeup. I'm definitely going to need a few sessions of Creative playtesting to get used to the new stuff, particularly dual wielding.

There is a 1.9 now? I might have to reinstall it, although I'm not sure about dual wielding.

I personally think it's great, but there are downsides.

A nice addition for example for me is, that you are able to walk on water (it temporarily freezes into ice where you walk) if you have specially enchanted boots on.

Another nice little addition are, of course, shields - and being able to survive a jump of 169 blocks - that is, if you land in hay and have armor on.

I live in a village in my world, so I'm basically selling the village's own crops back to them for Emeralds. Some other trades I've seen:

Good: A book and 13 emeralds for Feather Falling IV. This is awesome!

Bad: I traded 10 leather to a villager so I could unlock the Saddle deal. Instead, I unlock two deals: three emeralds for leather pants or ten emeralds for a Protection I leather shirt (when I already had a Protection I iron chestplate). I wound up going with the pants.

I think it adds a lot of neat features. My friend is really into command block stuff and what you can do in 1.9 blows the already impressive 1.8 features out of the water. As for the combat mechanics, the butthurt the pvp community has shown over the changes are hilarious to watch. Especially when they insist that clicking the mouse really fast requires is a skill (It isn't) and also when they go on about how the entire game is catered towards them (It isn't, in fact if the current devs are catering to any specific group its map makers like my friend as that's one of the communities they talk and get feedback to the most.).

I prefer to think of it as receiving payment as compensation for my harvesting services.

I generally try to defend my poor villager brethren from the monsters of the great wilds outside. It generally results in a village surrounded by a million walls and torches, infested with zombies, and missing all but two doors.

Hehe. I've sometimes been able to increase the size of a village. Of course, that meant battling monsters all night for a couple Minecraft months until I had a wall up and had put up torches everywhere necessary. And removing the stairs from all the buildings.

I didn't think of removing the stairs. I'll try that when I update (think I uninstalled the new client instead of the old one). Mainly my village building involves cannibalising parts of the village to make other bits bigger, rebuilding the farms etc. If I'm on creative mode, I'm fairly successful until a zombie manages to break past the iron golem rings.

Cobblestone wall blocks built from mined stone works far better. I suggest living a few chunks away from the village so monsters cannot spawn there while you gather supplies to wall off the village.

The really annoying part is fixing the village so that you can actually navigate it.

Am I the only one who enslaves "relocates" the village population to my own builds and completely tear down the village for the resources?
