I disagree.

Consoles don't need to die, they need to go back to what they were good at, local multiplayer, plug and play, etc...

Personally, I feel the computer has out competed them at a point that their use is pointless. I bought GTA for my PS3, among other games, finally trashed it for PC and rebought those games because of better and customisable hardware, mods, and graphics. Yeah, I did local multiplayer, and plug and play when I was a kid, but as computers got better at gaming -- online multiplayer became more dominant, and it was much easier to play with friends down the block on a PC, then having to bag everything up and go to a house.

Yes, computers are undeniably better, however, you're not thinking about the consumer base as a whole.

There are people who want to game but can't shell out the money for a computer, there are people who like the convenience of consoles (Well, when they were convenient systems), there are people who don't feel that they need gaming PC's, etc...

For example, I fall into the first category, I can barely afford a console or regular computer, there's no way me or my family has the money to get a gaming PC, custom or pre-built. (And I have no justification for it)

Also, there are tons of people who want local multiplayer, gaming parties are fun, and you know it.

A PC can cost more but overall, I think that it is a better investment than a console; simply because it can be used for more than just gaming. I don't mind avoiding the newer games or waiting for longer periods of time, so I spend little to nothing on acquiring games. When emulators are properly set up, these programs perform rather good in my experience.

I used to like HALO for the same reason, but they killed that with 5.

I just hope they have a good games lineup they're keeping secretive. Perhaps a new 3D metroid trilogy.

I think this is exactly what Nintendo needed. It's not meant to compete with Xbox, PS, or PC's but rather be something unique you can only find at Nintendo. Also, the switch is finally bridging the gap between Console and Mobile players, which will probably sell more games but less total systems. I'm definitely excited for it.

Nothing. The intended message was that prime (or I guess the prime series overall) is the only strong 3D Metroid entry.

Well, I agree about the need for a new 3D metroid trilogy.
I also hope they manage to get the new mass effect trilogy, but I'm not sure if it could handle the third entry.

The lack of hype here is disappointing.

I'd definitely give it a go for ye olde Mario and Zelda games, and Skyrim? On Nintendo? I'm very okay with this.

As if a game like Skyrim could be run off a cartridge.

The Internet already beat me at comparing the controller to a puppy. Talk about the console being named after the Swiss domain registry…

Of course, I will undoubtedly get the new console when it comes out, because I have been drooling over Breath of the Wild since E3 and I assume that even if it gets released for both the Wii U and the Switch that the newer console will probably run it faster and with better graphics than the older hardware, and the Zelda series is pretty much my absolute favorite game series of all time, so says the thousands of dollars I've spent over the past decade on the First4Figures Zelda statues. >_>;;;;;;

On further reflection, I am liking the idea of the new system encouraging local couch multiplayer. While online gaming is great for, say, gaming with my online friends who live across the country from here, some of the most fun I've had playing multiplayer ANYTHING has been with a bunch of friends all in front of one TV. It ain't a party until someone starts shouting obscenities at that asshole who just fired the fucking blue shell! :lol2:

That's not third party support, it's a list of companies who might make games for it. So it means nothing.

I will buy it since Nintendo owns my soul. I'm hoping for a new metroid series. And the potentual to have two controlers included for some of the multiplayer games like mario cart will help convert convince others to buy one by playing someone else's.
