Metal Thread 2: In Metal There Is No Law

That's right. A sequel to the place where you can just talk about metal. But I have borrowed a few ground rules from the original thread:

1. I will NOT tolerate trolls here. You don't like metal? Cool. But stay out.
2. NO flaming about other's opinions. Live and let live.
3. Spam isn't cool. Get me?
4. Metal and other forms of extreme music are acceptable topics of discussion. Mainstream hard rock discussion belongs in the General Music thread.

I still think some of the other ideas for titles were better, but oh well, it's the music that counts. Here's a great adventurous Epica track to get that new thread feeling going.

Out of all the great title idea, you go with the generic "Electric Boogaloo"? :eyebrow:

Gotta love that new thread smell!

Some of the other title ideas were cooler, but ah well. The metal thread is still the most badass place on NS.

My favorite metal bands are Blind Guardian, Death, Dissection, In Flames, Candlemass, Bathory, Amorphis, Ensiferum, Primordial, Immortal, Lost Horizon, Carcass and Katatonia. Among many many others.

Woo, new thread.

Also, Saor is best. I'm still certain that Aura was my top 2014 album.

Wonderful album. It was in my Top 10 of the year as well. "Farewell" is pure beauty.

Ah yes. Not terrible, just boring.

Ah yes. Not just glorious, but furthermore spectacular.

Funny how that glitch keeps cropping up.

Also, anyone else follow No Clean Singing? It's a great metal blog that posts tons of underground bands. Found some cool stuff through it.

1. Almost all “popular” music sucks.

Agreed. As in "popular radio stuff".

2. Metal doesn’t suck, unless it’s metal with clean singing, which mostly does suck.

Strongly disagreed.

And since I disagree with 2, the exceptions 3. and 4. are ineffective for me :p

They're not exactly being serious.

Plus they rarely adhere to their "no clean singing" rule anyway. They're ultimately just a great source for quality black and doom metal.

...ugh. Am I the only one really underwhelmed by the new Carach Angren? Generic songwriting, little energy, boring lyrics.

Ah, well. At least we have three great albums from them already.

I figured that out. However, I have my own sources.

This band Visigoth's debut album is pretty solid. Sort of a classic 80's US power metal sound.

It was a pretty good album, gave it 8.9/10.

And other albums I just listened to:
Anorexia Nervosa - Redemption Process
Been on my checklist for ages, Antinferno and I'll Kill You are so kickass songs! The longer songs were the better ones here, third highlight was The Sacrament (in addition to those two already mentioned.) 8.7/10

Beherit - The Oath of Black Blood
Legendary black metal album, finally got my ass into listening to it, been on my checklist for 7 years. The best song: Dawn of Satan's Millenium. 8.7/10

Astharoth - Gloomy Experiments
Polish technical thrash metal from 1990. Essential tech thrash along with Aspid's Extravasation (Аспид - Кровоизлияние) and Vektor's Black Future. 9.3/10

Yup tired + not giving a fuck. The content matters, the title is pretty much irrelevant.

PS: Now it parodies MLP, happy? :lol2:

At least it's more original than "electric boogaloo"

Woohoo!

Guess now I have to edit it and spruce it up with a few metal songs. Well, nevermind, I forgot you can't edit posts in locked threads.

Electric boogaloo was intentionally unoriginal, like a lot of metal. ;)

I stopped listening to the new album somewhere during When Crows Tick On Windows. I'm probably going to give it another shot later, but yeah, I agree. The first impression was pretty underwhelming, I didn't get the same feeling I got from their other albums.

Edit: Completely unrelated, but I'm listening to Falls of Rauros right now. While I like the sound, they really don't seem original by any means. The song Fury in Our Blood, Thunder in Our Hearts sounds like it was pulled directly off of The Mantle by Agalloch. Even had the same outro effect a bunch of the songs on that album had.
