Y'all were talking about brony origin stories the other day, so I figured I throw my imaginary hat into the ring, to enlighten the young'uns I suppose.

This is copied from another thread but whatevs.

I used to frequent a gaming website (ironically one don't keep track anymore because of ponies). I used to look in the comments section and notice all these pictures of ponies. I was like "What's with this?" I soon learned it was from the show. A common first reaction would be to reject the show on account of its supposed girliness. But I didn't do that. Instead I thought "So many men like it, so there must be a good reason they watch it despite of the stereotype."

One day I find a video in a comment thread explaining the phenomenon and the most common reasons for watching it (good story, good characters, etc.), among other things. I decided to give it a chance.

Watched the first two episodes. Not bad. 3, 4, all right. It wasn't until episode 5 until I had my realization: "Gilda the Brush-Off".

When Gilda screamed at Fluttershy for no @$%#ing good reason and sent her crying, I had two simultaneous reactions: 1) I wanted to eviscerate Gilda with a katana and 2) I wanted to hug Fluttershy.

And it was at that moment I realized: "Oh fuck. I'm a brony."

And that's the story of how Quid became a brony. The rest is history.
