Urgh. I never really liked Reddit. But, I only want to start using it because they have a couple good progressive rock subreddits.

David Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright, as well as a couple long-time backup singers.

In other words, the same people that worked on the last two albums, and the same people that've been working in Pink Floyd since Ummagumma, except Roger Waters.

Kind of disappointing. I don't really like Gilmour's stuff or really anything after WYWH. Was hoping Waters would be on it, however unlikely.

I found more info on the new album.

Also found this song, which will probably point us in the direction of what the new album will sound like. I'm unsure if any of you have already listened.

Pink Floyd Facebook page wrote:Pink Floyd can confirm that they are releasing a new album "The Endless River" in October 2014. It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. The album is produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson. Work is still in progress, but more details to come at the end of the Summer.

An official announcement, finally.

I was never sure if I could really trust David Gilmour's wife.

Honestly at this point I'm actually more exited for Waters's new lp or even Gilmour's solo album than whatever this PF "album" is going to be.
If that leaked tracklist is remotely reliable, then there's three instrumentals but Gilmour only does vocals in three songs.

Eh. It might be just me, but that does seem rather off.
EDIT**
I couldn't find a source for it after a reverse image search on Google. I couldn't even find that image anywhere.

I just posted this in the other thread, but David Gilmour did an ambient album with the Orb a few years back. It's pretty good, and perhaps the new PF record will sound a bit like this.

I love how articles manage to call this Richard Wright's swan song and then claim in the next line he doesn't appear on the album.

That'd be a lie, because he does appear on the album.

Although it should be noted that Wish You Were Here was Syd Barrett's swan album and The Division Bell was Roger Waters's swan album, but they didn't appear on those albums.

Actually, a swan song/album, or whatever is defined as a person's final public performance or professional activity before retirement, or death. WYWH, and the Division Bell are neither of those to the respective performers. And, the new Floyd album, by definition isn't Rick's swan song either. It's just a posthumous release.

It was during this twenty minute long performance of Pigs that Waters spat in the fan, of which we all know about.

But even without that piece of history, hot damn does it sound fantastic at this length.
