He is still technically a villain, though.

Okay, I shall make it Doctor Doom

Doom or the Emperor (from Planet Hulk, not from Star Wars)

Alternatively, Omega from Maximum ride.

Of course, these are all from a storytelling perspective...as for badassery, though...hum. I can't really decide...

Oh, wait, there is Pandora, from DC's new 52. She's amazing.

You can't beat the Joker...(especially the Heath Ledger version..."Wanna see me make a pencil disappear?")

Actually...

Does Dark Phoenix count, or is she still a hero, just on a bad day?

I'll go with the slightly atypical SHODAN from the System Shock series.

Tha Jugguhnaut, bitch!

I'm not too into supervillains, tbh. I'm a little more grounded :P my favorite villain of all time is Hannibal Lecter, and yes, I'm well aware he's not a supervillain.

Though, I'm sure some consider the Punisher to be a villain... he's an antihero, but my favorite along with Rorschach.

EDIT: Psycho Mantis o/ o/ o/ I didn't think MGS characters counted :P

In that case... either Psycho Mantis or The Fury.

Hmmmm, man that's a tough one. If I had, had, HAD to choose a favorite... it'd be my own personal interetation of Lucifer. Influenced by "Paradise Lost," I view him as the epitome of the TV Trope, "Affably Evil." Gentleman-like, intelligent, classy, respectful to women, children, and animals, but in the end, can and will throw you underneath the train with no remorse if it suits his agendas. There's a deep-rooted twisted-ness buried beneath the stereotypical-British-Lord demeanor, that occassionally rears it's ugly head, and gives you an incredibly harsh reminder of just why he was sent to the place where he now dwells.

Actually one of my all-time favorites is Ronnie Cooper, from Hellblazer ("Son of Man"), a rape demon from Hell in the body of a four-year old boy (Constantine screwed things up again), who decides to bring about the Anti-Messiah by cutting a slit in his gangster dad's stomach and inseminating him through it. My kind of kid.

The Joker is always a good choice. And I do enjoy Scarecrow. I wish he had done more in Batman Begins though :(
I like the premise of his character. And Carnage/Venom are always good, especially if you are going by name.

And I personally like Lady Deathstryke.

Grendel's mother, on the other hand... still isn't. Anyway, the real supervillain in Beowulf is the dragon.
