I heard about it from the user Slifertheskydragon on Deviantart. This was back in like 2011, but she had links to a lot of news about it in her blog there. (If I wasn't so exhausted from the race today, I would have dug it up myself. Sorry. ^^; )

I heard about that, too but somehow that didn't stop 4kids from obtaining the licence to the most recent YGO! series.

EDIT: Hold up, looks like this month 4kids actually sold the rights of Yu-Gi-Oh! and have been bankrupt for about a year.

NAH MAN

NAHHHHHHHHHHH.

Go watch Letters from Iwo Jima with a dub.

I really don't see what's unfamiliar. People raise their voices in anger or groan in displeasure in France and Norway too you know.

Even if the original VA's sound generic they at least sound appropriate.

Are you really trying to tell me my opinion is wrong?

Got some news for ya.

Anime News Network wrote:DeMarco added that Toonami will not be showing Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, and similar titles since "the rights to those shows are owned by our competition or are out of our price range." He continued, "Something you should know about THIS Toonami: We have very, very little $$. This experiment will need ratings success to receive more funding for new shows, more [mascot character] Tom animation, etc. I'm thankful for the $$ we've gotten, but it isn't a lot."

DeMarco also clarified Adult Swim's May 16 press release, which said that the network is developing "new original anime programming" for Toonami's return. Toonami will not have original titles created specifically for the programming block, "just new acquisitions." DeMarco said that he personally "love[s] One Piece and would love to see it on CN again" along with Gundam Wing. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, Fairy Tail, and Inuyasha: The Final Act are some of the "many shows we've been looking at" or discussed.

DeMarco confirmed that Steven Blum will reprise his role of Tom, which "will be an updated hi-res version of Tom 3.0" aboard a slightly different but almost identical version of the spaceship Absolution. However, the character Sara will not appear for now ("costs too much to make"), and Peter Cullen will not be the voice of the block's promos due to his busy work schedule. The anime titles will keep their theme songs, and Toonami "will make our own 'pre' intros."

I just cried the way I haven't since this morning. Err. What I mean is, I just cried with joy. Anything to displace the crap usually on in the afternoon to early evening before the tolerable parts of Adult Swim come up. Just hope they manage a decent lineup.

I never liked anime, but when I heard it was coming back, I would glady watch anime just because it is on Toonami.

Edit, Wrong word :P

Yay! My childhood is returning. I was for the ,most part, severed from the Anime world when Toonami went under.
Ani-monday (Sci-Fi channel) was the closest thing.

That was amusing when you were bored and had nothing else to watch.

I hope they re-air Duel Masters, that was the shit.

I loved the dub. They took a humorous but cliche monster duelling clone and turned it into an outright parody of the entire genre and beyond. Thus, I agree.

That makes two of us Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my all time favorites.

Same here. However, until something else unfolds this is apparently the schedule for Saturday:
12:00 A.M. - Bleach
12:30 A.M. - Deadman Wonderland
1:00 A.M. - Casshern Sins
1:30 A.M. - FMA: Brotherhood
2:00 A.M. - GitS: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig
2:30 A.M. - Cowboy Bebop

Now, apparently some fans are disappointed that some shows won't be returning soon to Toonami, but as seen in the post I had up there from AAN there are some issues that Toonami is undergoing at the moment. When it came to what I was looking for, I actually was anticipating newer programming (I was hoping Fairy Tail and Panty & Stocking would be a part of the lineup). I for one am excited for the new shows that Toonami did get - Deadman Wonderland and Casshern Sins - as I think both look pretty interesting and cool. I have seen the 1st episode of the English dub for Casshern Sins and actually Deadman Wonderland had its cast announced just earlier today after it was announced to be a part of the Toonami lineup. The other shows listed here are (as you probably already know) returning shows with solid-enough fanbases to gather decent support. Although maybe it isn't the lineup Toonami fans were hoping for, for now, we'll just have to continue to support the block and hope that it'll be able to grow and flourish once more. I'm looking forward to how the new shows go and how the overall reception is to Toonami's return on Saturday.

What are your thoughts and predictions?

Yup. Looks like the above is pretty much confirmed. I'm gripping my seat here in anticipation.

^-- Yeah, this. Ultimately it's a matter of personal preference, and just like there are good dubs and crappy dubs, there are good subs and crappy subs. Gotta judge it basically on a series-by-series basis.

Hopefully Toonami will do well enough so that the $$ issue goes away and they can get stuff like Fairy Tail. Gurren Lagann would be a good fit if they can get it away from Syfy, though a US television airing of the real version of episode 6 is probably never going to happen. :lol2:

I was really hoping Fairy Tail and Panty & Stocking would somehow make it on (according to Jason DeMarco, they're currently looking at these two shows!). A few minutes ago, when I informed my brother about the lineup, the first thing he asks is if Gurren Lagann was on it and he cracked an episode 6 joke shortly afterward.

Yes, I am indeed capable of reading. I was expressing my disappointment, however, that one of my favorite shows will not be coming back.

Besides, I don't think OS falls into that category. Didn't they show it on Adult Swim just a couple years ago?

Longer than that, I think. More than 5 years at the least, I'm pretty sure, and probably closer to ten o.o;

Did some research - looks like Toonami's rights to Outlaw Star expired in 2003.

Hey, I tried to tell him it was up to personal preference, apparently that wasn't good enough for him. It's pointless to argue about something like this in the first place, so I don't know why he started it.
