Cambazooty's Doodling Industry

Postby Cambazooty » Fri Apr 27, 2012 1:28 am

Because I couldn't come up with a much nicer name.

I like to draw.

When the computer is wrested out of my grasp, and I feel the need to ignore schoolwork (Which is 80% of the time), I take to doodling to fill up my leisure (And other moments where I shouldn't be, err... leisuring). After a decade of scribbling and sketching, though, I found out that I only kept four and a half years worth of content with me, and that made me tear up sometimes.

Some of them used to be part of grand ideas I used to have in my head before I gave up on them for another grand idea which I would dump later. Others were just on the fly creations while I was high (on nothing). As you can see from the few examples below, they're not terribly realistic, and they show you why I never got a B in Art.

... I'll stop monologuing now.

STUFF

I've scanned some bits of things I've done in the past four months. Comment if you like it; Comment positively if you don't, because I'm having some issues with my ego right now.

FUN FACT: The scanner I use to turn my pictures into bigger pictures sits right in the next room. However, it can't scan stuff over the internet, so I have to pull the wire all the way towards my CPU, tilt said CPU and let it do its thing. If I had a decent camera, I would have taken so many pictures...

STUFF TOO

If I scanned it properly, the title wouldn't have sounded so weird.

FUN FACT: For the past ten years barring this one, all my drawings have been scribed onto a bunch of easily disposable exercise books, which probably explains why I lost so many of them. Now, I switch between test pads and genuine sketchbooks, because losing things is bad.

Are you joking? The faces you draw are better than mine by leaps and bounds, but that might be me being self-depreciating.

But honestly, your faces are a-OK. Maybe bring the eyes closer towards the ears if you find it unbearable.

But it like your cartooning style, the thing is that you draw the eyes correctly fitting to it. when i draw my faces they as I'd say "don't match up", however i feel it's a "work in progress" thing for me. Still your style has something that i like about it, it's just with the flow (to me at least), rather in which most of the people i draw can't be put into moving poses and such since i can't draw from a side perspective, etc.

oops "it" i s "i"

It's actually been six months since I started using this current style for my doodles. That's already a record, considering I changed styles every three months. And this year has also been the first time I got some actually presentable dynamic poses done. Most of the time, my characters just stood there making some hand gesture or something.

If it helps, I see how some of my poses would work out by sketching some matchstick figures first before I start adding skin and clothing and all other tidbits. It usually doesn't take more than 40 minutes for me to turn one empty space into two people performing synchronised walking cycles.

Take my advice with a pinch of salt, though: I never got higher than 60 for my Art subject, and my painting skills are beyond reprehensible.
