Wow. Yeah, major "Siege of the North" vibes from that clip.If it turns into a fight, that is going to be ugly. Powered armor infantry, tanks, and airships, plus probably a sizable contingent of earth and metalbenders? And shit, if they talk Bolin into using the lavabending against Zaofu? We've already SEEN how bloody devastating a lavabender's abilities are at the Northern Air Temple.
Sure, Kuvira quite rightly points out that the world is going to be watching this, and if bungled she'll likely have the combined militaries of the Fire Nation, Water Tribe, and the Republic moving against her, and maybe even the Air Nomads as well. Or she's counting on the negotiations to go sour and plans to use the opportunity to try and intimidate the rest of the world into not entering the fray. Her threat at Wu's failed coronation to everybody else to stay out will carry a LOT more weight with a suitable demonstration of force toward one of her opponents.

Yeah, frankly I never cared much for the "Great Uniter" myself. Good Avatar or bad, the world needs one either way. We are talking about a world of people, several of which can control, use, and weaponize fire, air, water, or earth, and their sub-elements, including at least 6 current world leaders, with several having used it to their advantage in war in the past (Ozai, Chin the Conqueror, etc). Heck, entire ARMIES, no, entire MILITARIES are made up of benders, with very few members of the military actually being non-benders. In fact, the entire Air Nation, before the creation of the air acolytes, was completely benders. So, of course this will be a world riddled with war throughout the ages. All these factors make it inevitable. The world needs to be united and protected by the Avatar, no matter what the government of the nations are, or how many nations there are. The Avatar certainly should be good, so I am hoping this episode, or at least the last few of the season, have Korra realizing how to be a good Avatar. However, without one at all, the world is doomed. The Avatar is the only reason it isn't completely under the control of 1 nation already (100 year war).
Anyway, I think we will be seeing Kuvira force Suyin to sign, who will refuse. Eventually, they will fall to their last resort: war. I am not sure the world is going to intervene at all, but I do see a battle coming similar to the siege of the north.

Yes, frankly i'd like to see how it plays out in comparison to the 100-year war. Kuvira is clearly a better strategist than Ozai, so it looks like she'll try to turn the rest of the world away, get them to turn a blind eye towards this, or even perhaps get them to join her. Either way, though, stuff is going down. I predict by episode 5, it will have.

And we still don't know just what Varrick's project is. Power source? Spirit-fueled superweapon? Anti-spirit weapon? Any way you slice it, I don't see a wide variety of spirits being too thrilled with it, which could have some serious blowback, perhaps up to and including accidentally unleashing some manner of cosmic horrors from people messing with things they do not remotely understand.

No shit, huh? I was completely unaware of what should have been a very obvious fact, being as mods are usually fairly easy to distinguish what with their different coloured user names and moderator exclusive titles and all. I suppose it's a good thing I remained topical and didn't overstep any bounds or lose my cool, otherwise that could have led to a really embarrassing event.United States of Natan wrote:Anyway, my theory is basically the only explanation I have for those occurrences
Could you expand on that, then? As it stands right now I am entirely unsure as to how mercury relates to reconnecting with the Avatar's past lives, especially since they were severed to due to, by my understanding, Raava's "death" at the hands of Vaatu.

Licana wrote:Also, to wit, the Avatar's "the four nations should remain separate" ideal, likely something stopped large wars like the 100 year war from occurring before, may have also weakened the other nation's ability to repel external conflict. As such, with the Fire nation being the first known nation to challenge this, they were uniquely prepared to make such massive strides at world dominance as no one else was ready for that kind of warfare. Of course, that's speculation on my part, as we don't know very much about any pre-100yw conflicts. It could be quite possible that, without the Avatar, the Earth Kingdom, Water Tribes, and Air Nomands (who likely wouldn't have been preemptively wiped out as a way of trying to undercut the avatar cycle) could have put up a much more respectable fight.
