It was definitely surreal, but Disney isn't the word I would use to describe it.

Yeah, had a very distinctively Miyazaki vibe to it rather than Disney. Which if I recall from some of the audio commentaries or interviews, the guys who cooked up Avatar were pretty heavily influenced by Miyazaki's work, so it makes sense.

That's nice, Ameri.

But geez, the baby bison. I literally squeed at the cute. They NEED to make bison plushies, seriously. Also, kinda a reminder that the adults can be bloody dangerous if provoked. Those were some piiiiiiissed feral bison. Sure, kids show, etc etc, but I could seriously have seen those guys getting torn or trampled to bits had Tenzin and everybody not joined the fray.

True.

That reminds me, you people think Nick is gonna make LoK toys and action figures? I know they tried to do that with TLA, but then the action figure toy line was criticized due to its noticeable lack of female action figures, and the line was canceled before the female figures were ever produced. I know that some of the remaining figures (like a Roku action figure) were around 50 bucks when I checked several years ago. Who knows how much they are now?

From the reviews, you can order it directly from Nickelodeon for a lot cheaper... but I dunno if it's still currently available. And some people pay way more than $60 for a plushie (my sister, for instance, has a Yoshi plushie that cost over $100. Granted, it is freaking ENORMOUS...) especially if you're dealing with limited production or custom work.

Drawing from my own trips down the toy aisle as a boy, female action figures tend to get passed over quite a bit. Only female action figure I ever bought was Blackarachnia from Beast Wars.

I believe that's exactly why the female figures were never produced. However, this issue would be even more problematic for Korra since, well, the main character is female. I understand Nick may be hesitant to do a toy line for this reason. However, Nick might just go to the other extreme and create "Korra's Dream House" doll house. *shudders*

She could get the same treatment they gave Merida from Brave. Take a strong female chick, and makes her toy look like a damn Barbie.

Still, I'm not sure if the market for Merida/Korra and the market for dolls overlap that much. Just sayin'.

Honestly, the usual toy line merchandizing would probably be a lousy idea, period. Given how anime-like the Avatar series is, they'd probably make a mint off the older fans if they merchandized it the way a lot of anime merch goes- plushies, nice-quality collectors figures, little blind-box figures, that sort of thing.

Hell, I'd easily pay upwards of a couple hundred bucks for some nicely done collectors figures. There's certainly plenty of scenes from both shows that would set up nicely for figures.
