I was looking through my old shared storage drive and you'll never guess what I found!



It's a working copy of Visual Boy Advance, complete with Pokemon Emerald and a save game that's about ten minutes in.
I had no idea that I still had this.

So I just defeated the Lumiose city gym, the next gym I have to face is the fairy gym, at this stage, what pokemon can I catch that should be useful? I have two steel pokemon now; level 17 Mawile that I will train up if I select it as well as a level 40 Doublade.
The only poison types I have now are Oodish and Rosellia
What others can I catch currently?
And where can it get some steel and poison type TMs?

Don't waste your time with poison types. Seriously. They suck. A lot. Your Doublade should be fine, especially if it has the eviolite and iron head. And you do have other pokemon, right? They should help too.

Well, there's also that Poke Bank thing you can use to import stuff over from the most recent couple of gens. I'd be using it if there was some way to get stuff from my ancient copy of Yellow.

The Bank costs extra? Huh. Didn't know that. Not that I had any real reason to look into it since as previously mentioned, before Y my last Pokemon game was Yellow and I didn't figure I could transfer stuff from a Game Boy Color to the intarwebz to send to my 3DS. (Which is kinda a shame, because then I could at least ship over the Gen I legendaries. )

Also, soooo many legendaries to try and catch up on, omg! T_T Currently close to 70 hours, 5 badges, and 255 entries on the 'dex though for my Y playthrough!

Not *too* much extra, and you get a Celebi for your trouble. And no, no bias here whatsoever - it's not as though I'm trying to justify my earlier judgment or anything.

Haven't checked my Y runthrough - in the process of trying to take Pokemon from my Hoenn trio of games via a faulty, literally rusting DS Lite and drag them all the way up to Generation VI via a HeartGold game. Currently bottlenecked at a Black 2 game I have yet to finish, which I'm aggressively gunning my way through with a Flygon, Magnezone, Samurott, Chandelure, Lucario and *Ice Pokemon I'll Catch Later*. Not exactly an OU team (I have one on my Y game, will post it all later) but it gets the job done.

I don't think that you can transfer anything from Gen I and Gen II to the newer games. For the Gen I legendaries, you can get the three birds in a ton of games, including FRLG and Platinum, and you can get Mewtwo in XY and FRLG. I don't think it's possible to legitimately obtain Mew without an event, though.

Question for anyone who knows more than I do about the Transfer System: Is there a way for me to get my Pokemon from my Gen 5 game to my Gen 6 game without using the Pokebank? (I have access to another DS if that's needed)

Also the foe's Mawile can face my Talonflame.

Does that Tailow have wing attack. If yes, you're good. If no, find a way to teach it wing attack. (Or peck)

It has Peck and Wing Attack but that goddamn Makuhita keeps one shotting half my goddamn team, and my Mudkip and Poochyena can't do much to stop it.

Well, yeah. But both Ferroseed and Ferrothorn are much better defensive Pokemon, Power Whip/Gyro Ball, Spikes, Leech Seed, Thunderwave/SR with Iron Barbs and a Rocky Helmet is the most common set I see.

I've just started playing SoulSilver again, and am doing so after having beaten the original Gold/Silver games as well. Thus far I'm in Goldenrod City, but my party is fairly feeble outside of my starter. I'm currently trying to raise its EVs but am having a fair amount of trouble doing so for whatever reason.

Regardless, seeing as there is no active Pokemon thread in A&F, feel free to discuss any aspect of Pokemon herein. Cheers.

Nothing I'm obsessed with, per say, but I do love Scizor. It has much badass.

I wish it was possible to level up in Dewford town.

I'm four or five levels above the wild pokemon here but still four or five levels below the gym leader so I'm stuck...
