what you hipsters need to know is that it ain't about the obscurity of your music's that important
it is the quality and innovative edge that's the thing.

Holy crap, that's awesome.

I agree!
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

Seems most of the people who hate hipsters are disgustingly mainstream.

Tell me, what is the name of your favourite band?

(Regardless of what the answer is, I promise not to gouge out your insides with a Giant Cloud CD)

Thank you dear, i'm so relieved. Actually, the music is the least of the issues. It is not the music at all in fact, but the undeserved smugness of many a scenester douche that annoys me.
Which, i don't think anyone here has btw...so all's cool 8)

Is it just me, or are there 3 or so different meanings for the word "hipster"?

I'd reiterate that I've never met one and they just seem to be a fictional character invented by the internet to hate.

Yeah I was a hipster back when it was underground, but now that it's all mainstream and everything, meh.

Seriously hipsters (the very few I've talked to anyway) seem to be basically mods who listen to slightly different music. I'm not sure if there are enough metalheads to be the modern answer to rockers though.

I despise the stereotypical arrogant attitude of the stereotypical hipster, although I doubt there's anyone on the planet that fits the stereotype exactly.

My closest friends that are aware of my tastes would agree that I'm unintentionally "hipsterish".
Attitude-wise? No. I'm just critical of things that need criticism.
Taste-wise? Maybe. I just enjoy a huge assortment of things, the popularity doesn't matter at all to me.

I've known several people that are definitely hipsters. They will love a band until their music is featured in a car commercial or mainstream motion picture that wasn't independently developed.
