As much as I like to think otherwise, I'm still pretty new to BDM.

But all I can hope for is that I can keep up that attitude, because it sounds incredibly boring, even depressing, to find so much metal generic and boring. Kind of like how insanely intelligent people tend to have issues with depression, they're too smart for their own good :p I'd rather listen to generic and non-generic bands and enjoy both rather than keep looking for something less generic, because that seems like a search that'll never satisfy.

Generic black metal is better than generic death metal. I've found myself leaning more in that direction recently.

Razorfist called, he wants to make love to you.

Seriously, he detests death metal as much or more than you do.

Let's face it, in 5 years half of the bands you listen to you won't remember, even within the subgenres that still excite you (it'll be way lower in the subgenres that don't). The problem with generic bands is that there's so many of them within most underground genres of music that even when you like them you forget about them alongside other equally good bands. The bands that stand out are the ones that reinvent the genre, or blur boundary lines or otherwise define themselves as unique; they're the ones you're more likely to revisit again and again, even when other subgenres are your current obsession.

I imagined that in the same tone as the angry parent or dumb kid who says "you'll grow out of metal soon enough".

I don't have a huge amount anymore, I've gone through a few HDs in the past few years and lost lots of music along the way. :(

You probably already know Suffocation, and they've become generic since they're were part of the defining bands.
Would you consider Mortician to be BDM?

Crushed by Rotting has my favourite DM vocals of all time.

Vomit Remnants are a pretty good band from Japan.
Prostitute Disfigurement and Pus Vomit are two bands I still have albums by, but I find 'murdering hookers' death metal really lame.
Infinite Defilement are okay, if pig squeals are your thing.

I'm considering making a factbook all about me, and then with all that freed space I could put a shitton of quotes in my sig.

Yes or no?

Just put a link to that factbook in your sig. Would that help?
