I see they got banned already, but I was just wondering, could this be seen as flaming, particularly in light of their recent history?

Not really, no. Flaming is calling people names, like, "Ever thought that maybe there is a greater reason for God supporting heterosexual relations over sodomy, you freaking cock-sucker sodomite?" That's flaming. That particular post actually addressed the one it's a reply to.
