It's especially unfortunate that I've now lost nearly 11,000 posts and countless drafts of various characters and other things because of one TG thing I did a few months ago, as suggested by someone else.

Granted, I suppose it goes without saying, but I'm not doing anything like that again round these parts.

I feel like I've just wasted 5 years.

IMO I think it was warranted. A lot of people were breaking the rules, moderation decided to make it an example and show people what happens to those that break them. Plus, it helped me notice my deletion.

this is why I save all my stuff in a word document. Not because I intend on breaking the rules, but because if my nation is lost somehow I don't loose all the stuff I've made.

I don't think it's really anyones business what people decide to do on their tgs. Obviously, the forums can't be host to that sort of stuff (I did the same thing myself and got caught for it), but tgs are private communication (until the mods start crawling through) between two (probably consenting players), who should be extremely well aware of what they're getting themselves into. If one of them is not consenting, that should be reported to moderation but if two players want to engage in mature roleplay privately, that's their own business. It harms absolutely no one.
I've even seen threads where 'take it to tgs people' is given as advice, and it's pretty much standard practise now.

oh it helped me too. when someone linked me to it. but a lot of people have broken the rules over the years, sometimes resulting in similar purges, I cannnot remember a single time when it was advertised all over the site that x has done y and is therefore banned.

Gameplayers using illegal scripts are also publicly held into account. The "crime" is usually always shared, and these people did the things described in the post which is what they're banned for. Transparency, yay!

Eh, I don't know. Telegrams is private messaging, and it should remain private unless one wishes to report on something. But at the same time, if they wish to enforce rules for even private messaging, then that is there call. I think it is a site-wide PG-13 policy, not just forums.

Eeyup. If the address in your browser's URL bar includes "nationstates.net" in it, PG-13 applies. Like was noted in the announcement post itself, although we don't expressly go randomly looking around for cybersexing, if we come across it in the course of investigating something else, we cannot just ignore it.

It would still be nice to be able to retrieve stuff from a deleted nation, if not somehow recover said nation (especially if it was just a one time thing at someone else's instigation).

The punishments handed-down for cheating through the use of Predator only had two Delete-on-Sight orders executed; this one had ten. Further, considering the degree to which the rules were violated here and the sheer volume of such, combined with the cross-board posting and familiarity many of those impacted have with various communities across the forum, it was decided a global announcement was the best way to get across to everyone involved and to everyone on the forum this conduct is simply not acceptable.

As Reploid noted: we don't go randomly looking for this sort of stuff. Believe me, it's no fun.
