People have been told, repeatedly, that we're quite capable of letting folks know when they're out of line in Moderation. It is the forum we all tend to see the most, I'd wager, and we are constantly going through threads to make sure they've been sorted. Don't spam means don't spam. If you're not adding anything to the report, you're spamming. End of.

Young women today may accept having "bitch" or "ho" or "slut" thrown in their face and accept it as the norm. Certainly a lot of the music today encourages it. Certainly a lot of the videos that accompany that music glorify it. I don't accept that. I find it offensive. Rather than respond intemperately, or self-moderate, both of which would have been completely inappropriate, I walked away from the computer and left it for others to determine whether or not my irritation at being referred to as a bitch was warranted.

Because truly, it's simple to see that 'double glazing' refers to the window, and 'bitch' refers to the person being addressed. You can insist it wasn't meant to be offensive and perhaps it wasn't; I could insist that by referring to people as a niggers I didn't mean to be racially offensive but only use it to mean low class, but offense would still be given.

Perhaps the lesson to be learned is that one should be very, VERY sure of one's audience before using such a term.

And that uninvolved and uninformed parties are truly not welcome to speak about other people's feelings, motives, and actions as if they have absolute knowledge of the situation.
