[Discussion] What's with all the DEAT's?

I have had one 24 hour ban and I believe 3 warnings for trolling/spam. Though I was innocent of all charges, the mods believed I was trolling/spamming when I wasn't.

Just out of curiosity how many infractions does it take to get DEATed? Why use 'DEATed' and not just 'deleted'?

It can only take 1 infraction. But it depends on the type. Pornspamming, harassment, etc. is more likely to get you DEATed (or DoSed) than a flame or trolling.

And DEAT is something I'll leave to another mod, they have the juicy stories.

After thinking about this, I probably was trolling and spamming. However I honestly didn't intend to. It's like my psychologist says "Intention does not imply innocence".

What I don't like myself is the mass deletions you people do (yes, people with puppets ready, mass deletions are officially a thing.)

As someone who lost all his nations (active ones, that is) when I did something that I (opinion obviously biased, mods disagree) consider farely minor ('harass' a region by sending its high-ranking members tgs that broke no rules), and got all of my nations deleted, I really don't think that this is ever a fare punishment for something that isn't Dos-able (like disgusting kiddy pictures.)

As a roleplayer also, I've seen what that sort of thing can do to rps. When I created Vakolic, I also created Diol at the same time, because my 12 year old brain back in 2009 couldn't settle on a name. Now, when I lost that nation, so that I could still fulfill all of my commitments, I would have switched to Diol, if that had not been also deleted.
Now, if someone has been making alts simply in the case that they get deleted, I thoroughly understand why you would do this: to stop professional arseholes being areseholes with no consequences. However, if someone has been creating alts because they rp different storylines and can't be in 2 places at once, (especially if they have a farely clean warnings record in the past), I honestly think one nation is enough.

Sorry if this post is 'bad faith,' I just wanted to air my grievences is it is something that has destroyed both a number of rps I've been in, as well as a region.

If I remember correctly... Mods delete the nation that broke the rules not the puppets of said nation. I know it varies in the type of offense, but I don't think mods would delete 3 nations someone owns if one nation was used. Having a nation deleted is punishment enough and frankly if Aksun was deleted it would send a strong message to knock it off.

Depends on what's going on. We can, have, and will continue sweeps when it becomes apparent that we have a player with multiple puppets that have been used for rule breaking.

Part of the problem being that, for a large chunk of the game, puppets are made to be thrown away. Usually though sweeps happen after attempts have been made to get the owner to stop doing whatever it is s/he is doing first. If that's ignored... well, we have to tap a bit harder.

Does it disrupt RPs/WA stuff/Gameplay? Yes, yes it does. The simple solution is to not break the rules in the first place.

Well, the mods deleted upwards of 10 of mine, including a harmless Santa puppet that that got revived every Christmas, and went on a round around lots of regions saying Merry Christmas. It even stopped if founders told me they didn't want it to come.

But I've appealed enough, what is done is done, and I don't think any other committee of moderators will accept my explanation that deleting all of my nations is completely ludicrous (especially with no warnings beforehand), whereas deleting New Vakolic (and possibly Vakolic, although I'm not sure if I used that for anything) would have been quite enough to send the message, while not detracting from my ability to wage wars on an enormous scale. As I said, this is merely a topic at which I am thoroughly annoyed, and which has lead me (in joyful matromony for another mass deletion that I heralded and was unable to repeal) to not report anything again.

But enough ranting from me, I'm sure we can get back to the topic at hand. I do hope that atempting to air these concerns as to the often questionable justice handed out by the moderation staff (which is in no way universal in its questionability) breaks the 'bad faith' rules. It most certainly was not posted with such intention.

Deletion of all puppets isn't common.

I have gotten nice telegrams on the matter, it's good to see people supporting me, the only problem with DEAT and the like is the pain in the arse to make a new factbook and signature, etc. Another good reason as to why I have countless amounts of puppets.

Isn't there a factbook recovery feature though? Or does that not allow you to recover factbooks from nations that the mods DEAT'd?

We were all noobs at one point, we all made mistakes. Some of us had guidance like "Don't be an idiot. Never multi" and the like. Mentors who see you post flamey and tell you to knock it off.

I think the main factor is that when you start out younger you aren't as familiar with dos and don'ts. Of course there are exceptions but most people got their DEATs out early in their career.

I think there are plenty of players who cross the rules not because they like to cause problem and completely ignore the standards, but because they're unaware of their size.

Well, some, like yourself, have been told repeatedly what the problems are. And rather than adjust, you play the 'confused innocent' and just keep on doing what you've been asked not to do, push the boundaries, overshare, and expect the site to conform to YOUR 'state of normal' rather than adhere to the site rules.

This isn't exactly an uncommon circumstance to some players, and certain personalities. It's a pattern that has been repeated with various users for years now. It generally ends up in much the same way.

That's exactly why I try to never do stuff I'd regret later. I know I have some broken ideas of stuff and a mind that seems broken as well sometimes.

If I did them, it was genuinely because I didn't felt any such a problem in doing so. I've been told all of my life, people avoid me because I'm socially awkward and an inconvenience. I wouldn't do it on purpose, knowing it. I have an actual condition (yes, it is a sure thing now) that makes me not see it. Call it mental issues, won't make of myself a victim-player.

Are you implying it is close by hivemind's opinion or by your standards? And if so, how much? You can state both if they differ, as well.

And no, it's quite obvious that nothing that I do will ever be non-PG-13 again, so I'm asking about the historic with other stuff. I already got what your standards are, that if one explains the exceptions and details of to any person I know (even my socially conservative grandmother), they would be quite surprised by the least. In the case of doubt, as Dumb Ideologies puts it, do not engage.

All the other rule violations safe flaming - that is also the easiest to "quit", and happened in extraordinarily specific environments where indeed circumstances mattered except for my first month here, and even so against players widely perceived as trollish - are spotted over months and months of separation at best.
