I would like regional influence to be more transparent, eg. Have a graded credit system that lets you know how close you are to increasing your regional influence.

'You don't know the true costs of a political move until you do it.' But that's the problem, I don't know the true costs of political moves I have made. I don't know the costs of having 10 endorsements, being in the same region for several months, nor how 'political moves' are defined.
