Hello all!

We will be off the air for approximately 3 hours starting at 6pm PDT on August 30:

During this time, the entire site will be unavailable, including the forums.

This scheduled maintenance is to upgrade and shift around a few servers. In particular, it is to let us move off a server that has experienced 13 hardware failures to date. Then we can bury it in the ground and salt the earth so that nothing can ever grow there, as a warning to others.

Due to operator incompetence, there may be some bugs and weirdness once we come back, which I will fix promptly. But hopefully not.

Update 2:40pm PDT: Unexpected outage is currently in progress, unrelated to the scheduled downtime. Hopefully will be resolved shortly.

Update 3:05pm PDT: Now resolved. Make that 14 hardware failures.

Update 6:00pm PDT Servers are now down. You cannot read this message.

Update 7:55pm PDT: Gameside is up. Forums are up but search (including "View your posts") isn't full functional.

Update 9:48pm PDT: Various problems (incl. poll display) now fixed. There are a couple of issues with people connecting via IPv6 but otherwise all is well.

Why does that link think I'm in Wichita, Kansas? I most certainly am not.

Without NS to distract me, I'll most likely turn to a life of crime. After all, jellyfish pictures on Google Images can only keep me occupied for so long. Before the first hour is up, I'll be jaywalking, taking more than one spicy meatball free sample from my local grocery store at a time, and doing all sorts of ruffian-eqsue things.

You know what the really annoying thing is? Every Tuesday evening I have three hours set aside for interacting with real people face-to-face... that don't overlap with the downtime goddammit all to hell
