94/100 economic freedom, still "Left-Leaning College State"?

Postby G-Max » Fri Jun 24, 2016 8:18 am

I fought tooth and nail to escape "Left-Leaning College State" limbo, and now that my economic freedom is back up to 94/100, I should definitely be back to some flavor of "Capitalist Paradise" or "Capitalizt" by now. Why isn't my classification readjusting?

Which is weird, because (strictly speaking) civil rights has little to do with being left or right.

The Economy score on your trend which relates to your WA Economy classification of "Powerhouse" does not measure economic freedom. It measures a stat simply called "Economy" which is more of a measure of economic efficiency.

This is your "Economy" rank:

This is your "Economic Freedom" rank:

Your economic freedom is 65. Your economic strength is 94. There's a difference.

Okay, THAT definitely clears things up. Thanks.

EDIT: It looks like there's also a THIRD stat, "economic output", which is 120 trillion in my case...

Economic output is your country's GDP.

Think of the stats in this way: Economic strength is how good your economy is compared to your size (if two nations have similar output, but one's much smaller, it is much stronger), economic freedom as how few regulations and restrictions there are for businesses, and economic output as basic GDP. (how much does your nation produce total).

Game text in several locations suggests the Economy stat is to be interpreted as economic efficiency, though I'm still not clear on what that might mean.

Economic Output has a clearer definition, as Average Income multiplied with Population.
