Possible endorsement bug

Postby Fazana » Wed May 06, 2015 11:19 am

Hello.

I've looked a bit, but can't find any related information.

Issue:
I can't endorse most people I have tried to endorse. I don't know if there are any limitations to this feature, but I'm trying to endorse people who have endorsed me, therefore it should work, I dare to assume.

Nation in question:
https://www.nationstates.net/nation=pierconium

There were other nations I couldn't endorse, of about 20 or so I managed to do maybe 3-4.

What happens:
I click the endorse button and get redirected to my nation page.

Live action, request:
Code: Select all
POST https://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/endorse.cgi HTTP/1.1
Host: www.nationstates.net
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:37.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/37.0
Accept: text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,*/*;q=0.8
Accept-Language: en-US,en;q=0.5
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
Referer: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=pierconium
Cookie: <removed>
Connection: keep-alive
Content-Type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
Content-Length: 50

nation=Fazana&localid=<removed>&action=endorse

Response:
Code: Select all
HTTP/1.1 302 Found
Date: Wed, 06 May 2015 18:11:52 GMT
Server: Apache
Location: http://www.nationstates.net/page=display_nation
Vary: Accept-Encoding
Content-Length: 231
Keep-Alive: timeout=1, max=100
Connection: Keep-Alive
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>302 Found</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Found</h1>
<p>The document has moved <a href="http://www.nationstates.net/page=display_nation">here</a>.</p>
</body></html>

A 302 redirect, a bit weird. I removed some stuff above about which I feared could allow NSA to snoop on my nationstates account, bloody bastards.

Yeah.

endorsement bug

I'm having the same issue, although I haven't successfully managed to endorse anyone yet.
When I click on endorse it redirects me to my nation page.

OS and Browser?

Any possible plugins that might interfere (NS++, noscript, etc.)?
The Blaatschapen should resign

OS: tried multiple - Windows 7 and Debian 8
Browser: firefox

Addons: I tried disabling lastpass, adblock plus and privacy badger, and it's all working now. But I now I've turned them all on again and I can't reproduce the bug, so I don't know which plugin. I suspect it was privacy badger.

Thanks for your help!

I tried to endorse half a dozen states and everything's working OK now.
The only addon that may have been causing this issue before was Ghostery, it can get buggy at times, I guess.
