How do I post a picture

Could you guys please explain me how to post a picture in a topic?

Search google for picture you want
Hover mouse cursor over picture
Right click then click copy img URL
then come onto NS
click post reply/post topic

click on the IMG button
then paste the code inside in between [img.] and [/img.] (had to add the dot so the tag would stay there but it doesnt have dots)

so, find the picture you want to use (on the internet). If it is not online, post it to imgur, or a website like imgur. Copy the link and then come back to nationstates

using the row of codes in the reply section, fing the IMG button.

you will see: [img].[/img] (but with no period in it)

paste the photo link inside the space. done!

Always upload the picture to an image hosting website like imgur first and link from there. Doing what has been suggested (just finding a picture and linking) is called hotlinking and is not suggested as it can get you in trouble.

Blaat explained it well (albeit in a different context) a while back:

Using html addresses as flags is hotlinking. It carries certain risks. For example, today I hotlink to an image of a nice cute sheep. The webhost of that nice cute sheep sees me hotlinking here and changes the link to a picture of a penis. Mods see it, and I get warned. Let's not do this. By forcing it to be an upload, this danger of hotlinking is removed.

Sorry, but what do you mean with period?

If you do just bare tags, it renders in the browser.

Thus he added the period to make the tags show.

Otherwise, one could do this.
