It's was under development by Articalla and I was going to be hosting it. However with Articalla gone, no development is being done. I'll look into it this Summer, but currently this is not the best time for me to make an entire program since Articalla had the source code (for NSBS: Online) and I have a lot going on.

You know if you ever start it back up and need money a Kickstarter might help we could spread the word through NS and probably get a few hundred bucks for you to continue work on it. It seems like a really fun thing but it does need a bit of fixing up so do try and do that even if you don't ever get back to entirely rebooting it.

Let me first state I have no intentions of starting a Kickstarter, but I did have intentions of allowing donations. I'd like for clarification. You state that one may not run a kickstarter on NationStates, but the link you've provided states nothing about Kickstarters or accepting donations for noncommercial products that do relate to NationStates. In the link it only states that one may not start Promoting a commercial product related to NS, promoting a free site or product unrelated to NS, nor start promoting a commercial product unrelated to NS. No where does it state one may not promote a noncommercial product related to NationStates.

I had no intentions of starting to accept donations with the original project of NSBS as it didn't need any funding at all. It's a complete open source project and is pretty much finished. However, with NSBS: Online I planned on accepting donations to help with the server costs, domain, and other essential items for its development and for it to be maintained. With a child on the way, it makes it really hard to keep those items maintained as most of the money I am receiving from my job will need to be put into the baby's well being. Thus, I wanted to make NSBS: Online a community project where people could use NSBS: Online for free, but could donate at anytime to help with the project's future and to keep it alive. Donations wouldn't be put into place until it got into Alpha and was actually usable. As I stated, I have no intentions of starting a Kickstarter.

I like the concept of the simulation and am looking forward towards the web version however I am unable to run the downloaded version;
Yes I have Java
I am on a Windows 7 64-bit Operating System Laptop

Everytime I try to run the jar file it pops up the message:

'Unable to install Java
There are errors in the following switches:
"C:\Users\User\Downloads\BattleStatesSim.zip";.
Check that the commands are valid and try again"

Sorry for the dreaded reply, but you need to unzip the file for it to work.

Once the simulator almost equals, does equal, or even has more features of the original NSBS project, it'll enter an open beta. This will take time and I expect somewhere in September 2016 it'll be made public for open beta. However, I am very sure there will be a demo released to show the new project off. For the final release date, I am expecting sometime in October 2016. There's a lot of stuff to be done during these months and with only one person, it'll take some time.

From what it appears, they're working on an online version right now, so you would be able to access it on a Chromebook since it'll be on a website.

Drawkland, this is correct. It's the main reason we're choosing the browser route since it is very easy to maintain and it'll work on most devices and browsers, hopefully.

It was an option added in as a joke. I am planning on removing it and adding a more cool theme.

I'm currently working on the Online version and testing different themes, which should roll out in the few months of the NSBS: Online's release.
