Having trouble trying to figure out the banner. The banner I saved is different from the banner on my nations page, which is different from the one that appears in the settings, which is different from the one on my computer. Different in terms of what part of the banner is shown.

What ratio should I be aiming for?

Very, very well done, I must say. Only real qualm I have is how the motto is attributed to the national leader, which... doesn't work for nations with mottos like "E Pluribus Unum" or something. I'd suggest either removing that or doing what Nephmir above suggested.

Otherwise, I think Cerillium summed it up nicely.

TY.

Hmm. The quote might prove useful for nation gameplay. People can update the leader's quote to reflect current events. "We will not cater to terrorists" or "A chicken in every pot". This would mean that we lack a displayed motto. Perhaps it can be added elsewhere on the page?

That could be useful, considering how I'm thinking I could upload some custom banners so my nation page looks government website-y. I'd rather that the motto remain at least decently prominent, though.

A sidenote regarding those symbols; is it just me or is the Overview one somewhat phallic? :P

I knew what they were, but it feel demeaning to see basic words be replaced with a factory and because of it makes this website (which is used as an educational tool) look like a kiddie social network wannabe made by old people who think you use a chart to make kids squee with joy.

I really don't get what you mean. I think it quite complements the colour scheme, and saves space too. I hardly noticed it, and I imagine a great many people wouldn't use it very much at all. And the website is not really an educational tool, surely?

That's one of the first things that came to mind. Mine doesn't have the clarity I was aiming for but it lends an IC flavor.

To Photoshop! Must achieve perfection!

I envisioned a different use for this banner space.

Only beef I have is that the resize tool manhandles my pretty creations.

I know, but that's far from the website's main use, no?

I guess the main flaw I've seen so far is that you can't see TGs or notifications while on the forums. Not a big deal, but just something I noticed.

Yes it isn't a main user base demographic. But, it shows that this site has some legitimacy.

I see your point, but is the debatable style of six little symbols going to change much about it?

The banners rotate...

Not sure exactly what you're asking here.

It's brutal to them. My carefully sharpened image is a fuzzy hot mess. I see yours is as well.

Having the same problem. The ugly compression makes me so sad ;_;

(Sorry in advance if this idea was already posted, I didn't bother to read through the whole thread...)

So, looking at the sidebar, I can see that several of the tabs have a list of options that emerges from them when you hover the mouse over them (e.g. The World => Search + Activity). I thought it might be a good idea to also do that with the forum tab, where you would have options laid out for each type of forum or something (Diplomacy, World Assembly, National Affairs, Nuts and Bolts, and General Discussion). Maybe that would be too long of a list, but I thought it was worth suggesting.

It seems that all of my banners show, even though I've only set a couple to on, and one to primary. Do the banners you set to on only show for guests looking at the nation, or are they supposed to show for myself as well?

The mismatched inconstant messy haphazard fonts and the organization are just as bad as the six little symbols, the former two are also more prevalent and will also make the site look cheap (not fiscally cheap, just creatively of little worth).

The fact the banner auto-resizes depending on your window size explains the 100 x 150 ratio, as the banner itself is certainly not 2:3

Did you save your changes? Usually your current setting is displayed above. For me, that's "Esternial is using the primary banner Custom #1. A second banner is shown a few seconds after page load."

Talking about a singular banner. I turned all of them off and had one as the main. Ratio should have given what I meant; I am uploading a banner and trying to figure out which ratio would be optimal to show the whole thing.
