I've searched to no avail, so I figured this would be the appropriate place to ask.

Can custom Banners be GIFs? I would test this myself, but I'm currently at work and hard-pressed for time.

This will happen if your nation isn't set to use the "Rift (experimental)" theme, e.g. you are previewing it via the rift.nationstates.net subdomain instead.

Didn't know where to put this so as it's tangentially related I'm putting it here. Seems NS doesn't know Tuna is a fish, which is frankly horrifying as it is the best fish of all. That's a scientific fact.

That - and the fact that I can't access my nation page from the forums with a single click - are the only reasons I don't use Rift.

The top bar doesn't appear in the forums.

On the forums, mouse over the sidebar until you find the little x in one of the top corners. Click that, and the sidebar disappears, to be replaced by a forum topbar (a different one from the gameside one)

I've noticed that whenever you get a new banner, it is turned off even if you have used the button to turn them all on.

Could we maybe somehow get a script that automatically turns a banner on? (with the option to disable it, should you prefer?)

Is my economy just slightly too low for the mega-metropolis banner ? I've got other 'strong economy' banners but that one stubbornly remains locked.

If you turn all your banners off, then all (including newly added banners) will be counted as on, even marked off. You wouldn't be able to disable some banners but still have automatically added banners though.
