Because that's how it's supposed to work? The notification is about the telegram, not the nation.

There are two links in the notification. If I hover over the first, the name of the nation that sent the message, then in the bottom left corner the coding implies that clicking it would take me to the nation page. However, if I actually click it, it merely sends me to the telegram they sent.

Why would you want to go anywhere but the unread telegram? It doesn't make sense to actually link to the nation. The telegram will have that link.

Yeah, this looks like an actual bug, or at least something that requires additional explanation. The alt-text when hovering over the nation name link points to the nation, but clicking the link takes you to the telegram. Alt-text over "a telegram" correctly points to and directs to the telegram.

One thing that's been a bit annoying while using Rift is the notifications when you get a Telegram. I get why it should give you a notice, but they're in the same bar and right beside each other. Is it really necessary? And what's more is that the notification doesn't go away when I open the telegram. It's only a minor nuisance, but hopefully it gets fixed or something.

This would be amazing. Same if RMB notifications went away when you visited the RMB. Seem a bit superfluous to have to clear the notifications separately as well :P

Spotted a bug with the forum with clicking notifications on the Region.
In the main forum view, Board index.

Then clicking on the numbers, this happens:

I'm currently using Version 39.0.2171.95 m of Chrome. Is there anything that I can do with this?

If by "clicking on the numbers" you're referring to the number of RMB messages, this is a known issue. The sidebar doesn't get along with the forum. However, there is a top nav bar on the forums (that I loooooove - full width forum posts? Yes, please!) that you can use in the interim. That way, you'll still get notices for new telegrams or RMB posts.

I'm quite certain that you can remove the sidebar in favour of a "top nav bar" in the present default.
IIRC, it's not new to Rift.
The only way Rift and the status quo differ with regards to the forums is a different side bar.

Going between Century and Rift, both with forum top-bar turned on, it seems as if the space between the top bar on Rift has a bigger space under it than the same top bar on century; that is, the space between the bar with the subforum you are on listed on it. Not an issue per se, but wondering if intentional?

Is there any plan to make it so you can see if you have a Telegram while on the forums?

If you click the little x on your sidebar, you get a topbar that gives you that ability.

But it gets rid of the sidebar.

Yes, since the sidebar has a while to go before its totally forum-compatible.

From OP:
[violet] wrote:I don't want to receive notices for new TGs/Issues/other.
It's planned that you'll be able to customize this, disabling notices for the things you don't care about (or find redundant, given the TG and Issues notifiers), and possibly enabling notifications by email for the things you really do. This may not occur before Rift goes out of beta, though.

Oh that's fairly horrible. A fix isn't likely in the short-term, unfortunately, because Rift just plain doesn't work with the current forum. It works with the next version of this forum, which isn't live yet, and won't be a for a little while yet. The only workaround is to use the forum topbar rather than sidebar, by clicking the little X at the top-right of the sidebar.

I have noticed that the mini-menu at the forum zooms in on load (desktop Rift). You could investigate the possibility of integrating the mini-menu with the main site's Rift menu with the forum side, and then remove the zoom effect since I think it is unnecessary.

Charlotte Ryberg wrote:I suggest an update to the FAQ: according to my research for a 300 by 1200 pixel banner, the action safe area of the banner, or the parts that doesn't get cropped out in most screen sizes, is:

- 112 by 1016 pixels when the real banner height is 240 pixels, centred vertically and horizontally.
- 264 by 1200 pixels when the real banner height is 180 pixels, also centred vertically and horizontally but taking side cropping into account for smaller screen sizes (< c.1,000 pixels wide).

Please refer to my current custom banner to see what I mean.

Interesting, but what is "real banner height?" I don't understand.

The "real banner height" refers to the size of the banner as it appears on the screen. It is unrelated to the actual size of the banner.

If you like, I can send you a PNG copy of the test card.

A quick question about the new theme: is there a way to use NS++ features in Rift (like the RMB advancement)? I am not seeming to see that using the Rift theme.

I think this should be in the NS++ thread, according to what the OP says.

Banner suggestion
Would you consider adding some kind of scroll/skip function to the banner section? The whole point of the banners, I assume, is to look at others' and to show off your own. But considering how many banners people actually have, getting through all of a nation's banners can be a lengthy experience, seeing as you have no way of skipping forward - or back, if you didn't finish examining a specific one (then you'll just have to wait forever for it to reappear). This can make it a bit discouraging to even bother looking at them, which kind of defeats the purpose. What I'm proposing is very simple and could look something like this:
Image
Let the banners change automatically as they currently are, but add a function (an arrow on each side) that lets you skip back and forth between the banners manually.

If you click on the flag (the big one on top of the banner) it goes to a random banner instantly.

Yeah, I have all of them.

You've got high civil rights (70/100), but you're still a fair distance from the top.
