BB Code Inquiry

Hello!

I just had an Inquiry about BB Codes I generally assume that the Technical branch of the forms would have some one who can answer this quickly.

I've been wanting to put a "Marquee" to show news for my nation however, the two types of code I found and tried don't work and I was wondering if any of you could assist with a working way of doing it.

Both codes come from phpbbandbbcodes.com

One is "<marquee>" There is an example of it not working down in my signature

and the second is Is here

^ here is it not working.

So is there any other way I can get the same effect?

Marquee isn't supported by the NS forum. In fact, it's non-standard HTML that's not even supported by most browsers (IIRC, only IE and Firefox do).

If you want a news ticker effect, you could always use the [.pre.] tags. Example:

The News: Something happened -- Something else happened -- Placeholder placeholder placeholder -- This is an awesome news ticker -- Bananas -- Example example example -- More examples

That's because Marquee is perhaps the most annoying invention of the modern web, and thankfully the W3C (or whomever had the influence) convinced everyone to drop it from their toolbox. Using marquees is roughly equivalent to posting in leet (1337) or having entire conversations in emoji. It's an idea whose time has come, gone, and hopefully been forever forgotten.

For what it's worth, use of [pre] tags in forum sigs is rapidly approaching Marquee status in my modly opinion. I strongly suggest you spoiler them or just avoid them entirely. It's intrusive formatting at its worst.
