Additional Setting Options may be nice.

Postby Entako Hermitarity » Fri Oct 17, 2014 9:44 am

Hi.
I enjoy the freedom Nation-States offer to me to design the characteristics and details of my nation, but I advice even further setting options that will help players to define their nation's uniqueness for the sake of imagination and RP.
Here are some:
1) National main product/resource
2) Points of interest/ establishments of importance/ tourist atrractions
3) Super Weapon
4) Main Terrain
5) Agenda
6) National Leader's Portrait
7) Religion Symbol
I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas if you have any.
Thanks!
Grand Hermiteer of Entako.

All of those can be covered in the factbook.

The one setting that would be much needed here is a way to dial in your own tax rate.
The current leader of our nation is Sister President Sunshine Woodstock Commandant Deathmarch. She's far out, man! All Hail our Glorious Leader!

Why is the former Free Lands of Sweet Kush a dictatorship now? Read about the Black Friday Revolt, click here.

You do that by how you choose to respond to issues. Most of the ones that fiddle with taxes are pretty explicit about "that'll take a little more money" or "we'll make those people pay their fair share" or something similar.

Yes.

You're never going to get the ability to set your own tax rate directly.

Indeed, but if they will have appearance in a nation's main page, there will be more chance of other viewers to get to know the nation better, generally and briefly, rather than just surfing across endless dispatches and articles of a single nation. Look at it as a way to detail a nation with quick information.

If anybody cares about a random three-day-old nation, they can find all that stuff in said nation's factbook. If said nation's owner wants that all on the Factbook → Overview page, well, that's what the editor is for. ;) People have come up with some nice templates for factbooks that are easy to adapt for that. (Grr, where did I put those links...??)

Er, and it's considered polite to get used to how a community works before asking for changes to it. Those of us who RP nations just glance at the "official" nation summary and head right for the factbook, because that's where all the good RPing stuff is anyway (national map(s), governmental organization, military description, and yes, diplomatic dispatches). Serious RPers tend to have way too much description to even try to load up the "official" summary with.

No problem, fresh meat new players are always wanted. :)

The link I thought I had goes off into la-la land (a deleted dispatch), so try this guide to wiki-style factbooks. I know there are others as well, which you can find by searching the forum for "wiki style factbook".
