Has NS got issues with the server?

So, my sidebar crashed, everything is laggy and the format of the bars at the top is derped up. I thought it was just me, but then someone else said they were having problems. Post activity seems to have declined to bit from my subjective eyes, and NS is going pretty derpily in a way it normally doesn't. Are the servers having trouble or something, and if so, any ETA or idea or what's going on?

I just went to the forums, and then i discovered that the sidebar won't load. I then clicked on the ''NationStates'' logo on the top. But it failed to reach the website. So, for 5 hours the gameside thing was down. Just moments before it returned (a few minutes ago) i saw this picture of someone running from a server... On fire. LOL'd so hard.

Jesus dick, that scared the hell out of me for a second there. O___o

I had some login issues where it repeatedly claimed my password was wrong, and then it just displayed a picture of Reppy running away from an exploding rocket and told me I had three minutes to reach minimum safe distance. No one's reported that particular issue yet, so I thought I'd bring it up. That's probably why activity dropped off.

Only gameside went down, forumside remained mostly intact [minus all the gameside side bars having crashed], though I got 5-20% packet loss on forumside.

I had the same issue as well. For a second I thought it was the Heartbleed bug, but I was probably going off my head at the time :lol:

When the gameside is down, people cannot login on the forum. Hence why your logins fail.

If you do not see the whole "Create a nation" thing on the side/top of the forum, then the gameside is down.

Okay, I'm locking this.

We all know it was down for the last ~5 hours. More posts saying "it was down" or "it is up again" is really not helpful.

If an admin wants to comment later, they're free to do so, until then *turns key*

Not the way I like to come home: finding NS was down for hours.

I kicked the server back into working condition. Looked like same problem as 4 days ago. For now, no problem analysis beyond "it wasn't working", and thus no obvious solution to prevent recurrence.

This should have nothing to do with heartbleed, as 1: NS has installed the fix for that, and 2: heartbleed doesn't crash servers.

What was the problem 4 days ago? Was there a previous server crash I am unaware of?

Also there really should be a "status.nationstates.net" type site that displays the NS status, and is hosted separately. It seems really strange that you found out the site was down because you tried to log in. I get emails when my sites go down. I thought about emailing max, but I figured that you guys had some kind of similiar setup. Learning that you in fact do not is highly troubling.

We can email max ourselves just fine
