Dossier Bug: Regions

Postby Land filled with People » Fri Mar 28, 2014 9:42 pm

I've found two (possibly related) bugs with dossiered regions

1. Just after dossiering a region, the little button saying "Add @region@ to dossier" disappears. However, after some length of time (not sure how long...I don't check this frequently) the button reappears on the region's page, even though the region is still in your dossier.

2. There are a few regions listed multiple times in my dossier. Whilst I may have repeatedly added the same regions multiple times, I don't remember doing so. Duplicates are listed one after the other.

So I just checked a region I dossiered the same day I posted that (^). The add to dossier button has reappeared. I looked at the region yesterday, and the button was still gone.

*bump*

This is probably way down the fix list (and that's fine), but having that dossier button stay disappeared is a nifty feature, particularly for quickly identifying regions :)

Was this glitch noticed the first time around?

*bump* Hoping this might be fixed alongside this.

Probably only a problem with century theme. Not seeing the bug on mobile theme. Did you try changing themes?

I've been using default for sometime, and this still occurs. Also just tried the mobile and liberal themes, and the add region to dossier was still there for regions already doss'd.

Dossiers are definitely still getting corrupted somehow. I haven't identified the cause, but I've added some code that will repair any corrupted region dossiers whenever you add or remove a region. So if you experience either of the two problems above, adding or removing any region to/from your dossier will fix it.

Also, if you happen to figure out what seems to trigger the problem, that would be super handy to know.

Thanks Violet! :)

I'll keep an eye out for what I'm doing/have done if I see the button come back.

This still keeps happening to me. My situation is identical to the OP.

Just noticed the button pop back after two days.

After it was fixed two days ago I tried switching nations, logging out, restarting browser, (un)dossing nations and regions and moving regions, but this didn't have any effect.

I did most of those things again today, but also switched WA status between nations (but not onto/off this one). As mentioned in the OP, it seems to be a time based thing (~2 days was about the same as the last time I noticed it happen).

Removing/adding a region to the doss fixed the problem again.

I cleared my cookies/cache, but the button did not reappear.

I suspect some sort of parallelism problem in the update, then.

Land filled with People, do you ever add nations to your dossier around the time your region updates?

Administrators, are there any pieces of code in the update process which could touch a nation in parallel? (Could even be within one thread: open it in one function, open in another function, and save both in some interfering way?)

Yes - but on another puppet.

So, you tend not to be logged on to Land filled with People during its update?

Correct.

I used to be - and this bug occurred. Lately I have not been, and the bug is still happening.
