Sorry, meant that the extension is now primarily a gameplay tool than one that non-gameplayers would use much. Those who use the forums more than the game have little to gain from NS++ than before, unless of course they have a crapload of roleplaying puppets or really need the "Ignore Forum Topic" function. Previously, we had the ad block and Roleplay News to keep us using the extension.
Now, I can't stand using it as a forumer simply because I remember what it used to be.
*shrugs* Maybe I am irrational. But I'm not using NS++ until it incorporates something that makes up for the loss of those two features.
Hi, maybe I can help explain why those two features were removed and perhaps you can contribute some ideas towards fixing/restoring them.
1.) The ad-blocking was removed because it is a conflict of interest. NationStates now owns NationStates++, so it makes no sense for the admins to give players a free way to opt-out of ads, competing with the in-game store. I personally use an adblocker now.
2.) The roleplay and gameplay newspapers aren't gone, but they did get "delisted" from the sidebar. The main reason for this is that it also seemed a conflict of interest. NationStates admins effectively owning/running both those papers creates an unhealthy bias which seemed complicated to solve. Before, when I was the administrator for NationStates++ I could review articles and ensure content was permissable and the newspapers would remain a 3rd party news-source, outside of the admins control. But now, that is not the case. Either I am forcing the moderators to take a task they never signed on for - to monitor and maintain the two global newspapers, or I close them down.
