The NS++ is very helpful but I had to disable it because it was becoming more of a problem than a help. I tried to change themes but that had no affect. I think the NS++ is just broken.

Yep. It'd probably be nicer if it was just broken up. Take all the dodgy stuff out leave what works. Which is apparently not a lot.

Clear your browser cache?
Switch from https to http or vice versa?

Both of those would do that. One means they're gone, two that you just need to switch back. It's always a good idea to download and keep a local copy saved it it's excel format as a backup

NS++ lagged so badly (Google Chrome kept going "Kill Pages?") and I had to disable and uninstall it just so I could tag Warzone Australia at Monday 5PM-ish AEDT. Tried Firefox with NS++ and it borked. Removed NS++ and everything worked fine.

Instead of using Rift at this time, if you are so inclined to benefit from the features provided by NationStates++, simply switch to using Century instead. NationStates++ currently works flawlessly with Century; it only messes up with Rift.

Depends on your browser. In Firefox, it's a simple case of heading over to addons (Ctrl + Shift + A) and then disabling removing as necessary.

THat's quite slanderous. Though the original creator, Afforess, wasn't always on the best side of moderation, he also was no raider or password-stealer. All the code is available on Github if you wish to pursue it yourself. Furthermore, Nationstates proper now owns NS++ and many other former afforess projects, and the new OP and the main guy in charge nowadays, Eluvatar, is an active defender. Trust me, I go against him sometimes He may not have been the best at keeping this up recently, but he's no raider for sure.

The source code was always open source to preven this kind of thing. If you feel that paranoid, you can view the code yourself and compile it on your own machine.

Whoever you were told this by doesn't have their facts straight and probably had an agenda against afforess. I know that he sparked a couple of "community retaliations" through his...ahem...''reminders''.

So I really was hoping I wouldn't have to take this issue to the forums, but it's gotten a bit out of hand and I want to fix it if there still is time to do so.

I started using the NS++ recruiter after my former region collapsed and I founded the continuation. Everything went fine for several weeks, up until about last week, when I began encountering stuttering while navigating NationStates. It began as stuttering, but quickly worsened to the point to where it would crash my entire computer (nothing would work, not even CTRL+ALT+DEL).

Following typical diagnostic procedures, I removed NS++ and learned that it was the problem. NationStates runs fine without the extension, but every time I enable it, the website is choppy again. It doesn't, however, crash my computer until I try to access the recruitment page in NS++. At that point, everything locks up.

I think this narrows the problem down to the autorecruiter. I should note that there is another nation who is somehow being documented on this page as sending recruitment telegrams, though I never authorized it. It was our former WA Delegate, which leads me to believe that they have the ability to partake in the recruitment by default.

Anyway, this nation moved away from the region. I went to NS++ settings and enabled "show recruitment progress," and it still shows in the little red banners that appear that he is sending telegrams. I've telegrammed him asking him to put a stop to it if possible, but I've received no response.

Anyway, I don't mind not having the autorecruiter anymore, I just don't want unauthorized telegrams to be going forever and ever. I'm aware that this issue is my issue, and not anybody else's, but I'd sincerely appreciate any help that I may be able to get in terms of just shutting the thing off.

EDIT: I also need to note that my new WA delegate is having trouble logging in with the extension enabled. When I'm logged in as a different nation, I can navigate the site with NS++ just fine.

Good news! I solved it. I'll post what I did in case others have the same issue.

I installed Firefox to test and see if the problem was specific to Chrome. The problem persisted, but Firefox detects scripts that are crashing and allows you to stop them, which I did. I navigated to the recruitment page, stopped a few more bad scripts, and then retired the recruiting campaign. I returned to Chrome with NS++ and the problem is solved.

Gonna need more info on what's going on. What happens when you attempt to post? Does it display an error message of some sort? What region are you attempting to post to? Are you using the NS++ browser add-on?

There is a known issue with NS++ blocking forum posts. Either change themes from Rift to Century or disable NS++.

When I attempt to post, the message just doesn't show up. No error message, just no comment. I'm trying to post on the New Brannack message board. I do have NS++, so I'll take it down and see what happens then.

That sounds like something you'll need to take with Eluvatar in the NS++ thread.
